    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

Cool ...... yeah, that's a very nice filter setup. In fact, I was just watching their filtration demo video last night .... pretty neat to view. They are smart to do something like that (produce a video) - seeing really is believing. Power Stroke Diesel ? What are you running it on now ...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

And this is what the oil looked like ...... keep in mind - it is an EGR diesel ..... the oil is usually completely black after an oil change within 1000 miles (or maybe much less) This oil has 3K miles on it :D

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

Attached is an image taken when I was changing the bypass filter for the 1st time after I had done a complete oil change:

Sprinter Virgin & Used ATF Analyses

Yup - another Motor Guard bypass - like is being used on my engine - that dumps into a full-flow spin-on (your basic Ford oil filter) on a remote PermaCool filtermount. Right click on it and open it in another browser window or save it your hard drive - the file itself is actually alot larger...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

I assume that you are referring to a Gulfcoast Filter's bypass unit when you say GC above ? Are you running one ? If so, how do you like it ? I'd guess that anyone that is able to go that long (300K) probably has a huge oil sump on the engine - and are adding significantly more "make up"...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

You're quite welcome, of course. 22,428 loaded, plus a dispatched deadhead of 4,882 miles - which (obviously) doesn't include any undispatched deadhead (relocate to a better freight area) or personal miles (I usually drive the Sprinter when I'm OOS - because it gets about 6 to 8 better mpg than...

Sprinter Virgin & Used ATF Analyses

Yes, I believe they do ..... but you are only supposed to use it on your salad .... and not actually in the transmission.

Sprinter Virgin & Used ATF Analyses

This was the analysis done on a sample of my ATF that was pulled just prior to changing the ATF for the 2nd time. This fluid currently has about 30K miles on it. Since the ATF is expensive ($14/liter @ Europarts, $20 or more per quart at a Dodge dealer) I will be looking to extend the change...

Sprinter Virgin & Used ATF Analyses

The attached ATF analysis was done on virgin (unused) Febi/Bilstein ATF, which meets the Mercedes-Benz 236.12 spec which is required for Sprinters. The ATF is blended by Pentosin, and is said to be (by Europarts of San Diego, who sells it) the same fluid which Chrysler offers under the Mopar...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

This is the most recent UOA. It is a similar amount of miles into the OC as my last analysis - but the difference is that this OC was run on the bypass filter the entire time the oil has been in the vehicle. The person that did the commentary on the report missed one item: I didn't change out...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

This next UOA was done with almost 2K more miles on the next OC - but at around 14K into the OC (IIRC) I added the bypass filter - it is a Motor Guard filter, that uses a single roll of toilet paper as the filtration media. It was modified by Ralph P Wood, out of Sanger, TX to be used with hot...

    Sprinter Used Oil Analysis

This was the original UOA I did on our Sprinter when I was considering adding a bypass filter and doing extended oil change intervals. It was done prior to adding the bypass filter. Up to this point, I had always pretty followed the ASSYST maintenance computer's oil quality sensor and had...

    Feedback needed for Sprinter

I would agree ..... in fact, the ATRA (Automatic Transmission Rebuilders Association) says the majority of all transmission failures are due to overheated ATF ..... and that if ATF could be kept clean and held to a temp of 175°F or less, transmissions would last indefinitely ......... Those are...

    Feedback needed for Sprinter

Hey man I'm gonna PM ya link on another forum (since I apparently can't post it here) .... where they're talking about that very thing - ambient air temp sensor causing a LHM condition - look for the posts by "Doktor A" and "AircraftWrench" and see whatcha think .... I haven't read the whole...

Well like Moot sez: "Fart a Fig Newton" ..... who knows ? .... it may help. The DSS receiver here took a dump it looks like .... I'm rapidly growing bored ....
