    Understanding Return on Investment (ROI)

Leo, as you found, that is a pretty accurate description. In Phil's case, a lot more information is needed. Fill out the CPM form that say OOIDA provides, and I will give you a realistic number. Also need a number for actual loaded miles and DH miles. With that, then you can view the...

the winds of war are a blowing

If they have a third party do the lease purchase as that is indicated, it moves that liability off their books. I wouldn't be surprised that the lease cost is twice as much as a loan payment. That maintenance fund is another joke. They anticipate most to fail. If not, they wouldn't have a need...

There is some decent freight coming out, but I don't believe any were loads to Canada. What size vehicle are you driving?

the winds of war are a blowing

I don't know that it's a sign that Towne is sinking. It is a sign that a lot of people are making pre-emptive decisions to avoid further loss. You might be right. But, I lean towards the sinking ship theory because they aren't just selling assets, it is the way they are doing it through a...

Sure looks like a sinking ship to me. They are dumping assets to raise capital. One can certainly bet they have a close relationship with these leasing companies. Nothing wrong with hiring IC's to handle an overflow if they are busy. But, not in this case. They are as mentioned, transferring...

If everyone else refused this load, that should have been your first clue.

    New fuel program in Panther

That would be a strange one. I wouldn't start a truck for a .12 cent FSC. That doesn't sound right. Or if it was, I would find my own load.

I couldn't tell you much about it other than it is a optional flat rate program if you choose that program.

We didn't , and they didn't ask. I quess if they did, you could say I think it is 35 foot? We went several times and it wasn't asked. Additionally, we had a truck there last week and they didn't have a problem.

Shouldn't have any problem as there are numerous links. State of CA state parks will have the rates if you have any problem. One of my favorite places when out west and we were waiting on a load. But, there are so many.

    Expediting for me? Opinions Needed!

I would not be paying any attention to revenue numbers from 05-06. Freight was more plentiful and much lower fuel prices at that time. I would talk to some drivers and get figures from the last 6 months, not several years ago.

When we went we went to Sam Clemente state park that has RV hook ups. They have showers, laundry, and stuff nearby. Also, just a short walk from the Ocean.

    Understanding Return on Investment (ROI)

This would be good to add or follow up on Turtle's post. At the time, I was using these figures, but one could plug their desired amount in. $85,000 truck on original purchase residual value at 5 years or 500,000 miles is 25% of $85K or $21,250.00 add this figure to the present...

That could apply in this example. I think it would be redundant to start another thread as mention. Even when a specific definition was provided, Phil says it is wrong, doesn't matter, and can't be applied. Many of the facts have already been provided in several other posts. I believe as Turtle...
