    This is my final answer

THere are several companies that this can be done. Panther being one of them. You can obtain your own freight using their authority, insurance, and collection/billing dept. They have a specific department for this and charge 15 percent for the provided service. You negotiate your rates and terms...

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

Here is a site that has 33 calculators that are a free download in one bundle. Many other programs are sophisticated and require a lot of data. These are pretty simple for a one truck operation. If one has done their taxes (hopefully so), most of that information can be added. As with any...

No surprise of the ATA link. You almost had to figure they had a connection somewhere.

OOIDA says owners should pay idling fines

I would view this the same way. This wouldn't have much to do with the fleet owners in expedite. Quoted from article Pennsylvania SB295 would limit idling of trucks, school buses and transit buses to five minutes per hour, unless the truck has a sleeper berth and idling is used to heat or...

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

Hey.....at least now you say it exists. Thats progress. Again, I would contact OOIDA for further assistance.

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

I wrote to OOIDA and told them to remove it as it isn't suppose to exist. They laughed and wondered where I had heard anything that rediculous. I promised I wouldn't elaborate to keep the peace. It could start another 100 threads And for what it is worth Phil. You are the one that claims...

    Yep....price plus the tax.

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

They have a updated version of CPM calculations on the latest issue of OOIDA's Landline mag. Here is the link. http://www.landlinemag.com/Archives/2008/May08/News/cost_per_mile.htm If one looks carefully in the diagrammed fixed costs example, it lists Return on Investment. I read...

    Know your credit?

Gee...poor Bob and Betty. Pays to read the fine print. Sounds like a case of too much wanting, and not enough doing.

    Taking your shower!

We were probably not being Eco freindly. We dumped the soapy water at truck stops just because it was a improvement in odor at many. Especially on a hot day. Didn't do it at a customer location unless I could pull over a sewer grate.

I think you misunderstood my post. I was refering to non contracted Fedex partners.

    fuel surcharge

They probably could give a little up from time to time if they normally keep 38 percent of it. Sounds like a miscue, and they gave you the FSC that a broker would get.

    Debt Free Owner Operators

Actually a pretty good article. Using Ramsey's quote "Cash is King" is what we operate on. That philosophy has served us well for many years. No plans with regards to trucking that I would change that. But....we are probably in the minority.

    Thanks!!

Hey Chef, Welcome aboard. I notice this is your first post, but you may or may not have been following us for awhile. When you see the warning posts go up, it is usually because there is something in a post that triggers a warning. The guy that is borrowing against his house for a truck, the...

    DH and the Tractor Fleet

Not sure on this week, but I have to think their is a limitation somewhere? Case in point: Last week we had one truck turn down 2 shorties and then got hit to pick up at the Marriot Convention Center for a nice paying load to New Orleans. That followed with a load from N.O. to MN. One day...

    Dispatch Favoritism

Have to agree. Most of the time I hear this, the complainers are also unhappy with a great many other things. It is a business. Percieved or not, it may happen, or maybe it doesn't. I wouldn't let myself get into a position that it would matter.

Heads-up when you decide to buy a truck

Does sound like a strange way to do financing of a truck. I certainly wouldn't sign anything or do any other power of attorneys with them. I would look very carefully to see if you can refinance it through another mortgage company. As mentioned, I think you did a great service to the EO...
