    % vs cent per-mile

No problem The second deal could be better IF (remember that word IF) you receive 100 percent of the FSC and what the actual rate is.

    % vs cent per-mile

The first deal is better than the second if on the second they only give you 60 percent of the FSC. Fuel is too expensive for the driver to give up 40 percent of it.

    20k Upside Down

It can usually be done, but the side effects won't likely be pleasant. You would likely be better served to run it while it is for sale, and then purchase something else upon its sale. A lot of trucks for sale or repoed right now so not many dealers are going to be enthusiastic to give you a...

    % vs cent per-mile

It would depend on the company you are talking about and when you say percentage, what percentage of what number. In other words, is it a percentage of the gross or something else? Are you paying fuel and tolls? Need a lot more information to make a fair assessment.

    Fuel Surcharges

They still get those types of loads covered but the majority I believe are by drivers on a 40/60 split where the drivers don't pay fuel. Many don't pay attention to driving and idling habits since they don't receive any of the FSC. It may be beneficial for fleet owners with that pay structure...

    Very Disappointing numbers

When the economy picks up, you should see some improvement. You are in direct competition with their own company equipment which they will move ahead of any contractors truck. In a slow economy, they really have little choice.

    update from ctx post

I am not sure why they would be upset? They open that can of worms when the cut their rate. They are currently advertising that .70 CPM is what they are paying a van. So....not exactly a secret other than cutting their existing contractors. I don't think in light of today's operating costs...

    Fuel Surcharges

Just have to pick and choose some loads. The FSC's seem all over the place. We refused a SC to Laredo load because it had a .13 fsc. That was followed an hour later with one for .84 cents, but half the miles. We came out better on the second one. With regards to the flat rate program, it...

    Need opinion of exp.expeditors.

I can't answer your Fedex question, but generally a 60/40 split will give the driver more money than a 40 percent deal will. That is assuming the truck has a generator, you are recieving ALL (100 %) of the FSC, and you aren't deadheading all over the place.

There are a lot of things that effect whether you can achieve that number. What is their 120,000 based on? Other factors would include the size of truck, your expectations of hometime and location, how experienced are you and the fleet owner? How long has the fleet owner been with Panther...

    My Truck Surges At Idle

Really need to know specifically what the fault codes are. If the ending number is a 31 or 32 of the code, it is a voltage irregularity at the fuel pump. If that tests ok, then it is at one of the wires for one (not all) one of the injectors. Could be a broken wire or poor connection. If the...

    My Truck Surges At Idle

If a dealer looked at it, then one would be under the assumption they did a voltage test at the fuel pump. If that is ok.....what is it showing on the ECM activity report? That should catch any irregularities at the injectors. Flashing the ECM wouldn't hurt, but may still not correct the...

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

Thats a good thought Rat. Someone else possibly authored the thread we read and were talking about. If it wasn't you Phil, then don't worry about it. My apology if what myself and others read wasn't authored by you. You can then say "I believe in ROI"

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

No problem. Glad it helped. They are actually pretty handy and simple to use. Other calculators are helpful as well to determine simple numbers. The ROI calculator only delivers a percentage, but that is easy to convert to dollars if necessary. Your still at ROI = net profit after taxes ÷...

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

You are 100 percent correct. I don't drive now so from a investment side of things, it is much easier to determine its profitability. It does take an imput of time, but it is really no different than say property management. Since the investment has that commitment of time, then one would...

    This is my final answer

Steve, That might be something you could elaborate on. I have on several occasions attempted to book loads for CC drivers that had been sitting for a week or longer, but they couldn't find anyone to facilitate the transaction.

Do you know what it cost for you to operate?

I do believe I read that somewhere? But we have made progress towards its existence.

    Know your credit?

Exactly. Too many times some become accustom to making a poor decision with the expectation that someone else should bail them out.
