    My trucks have been busy.

Hopefully the opportunity will present itself again at some point. Many of the casualties at Panther are the ones that can't get a handle on how they operate. But....that can be said for quite a few carriers.

    Very Disappointing numbers

I would agree if you are talking specifically WG trucks.

    Recession and Prosperity

Oh no.....there is that "L" word again. But so true in that being prepared will likely bring more luck. I don't think things are as tough as they have been in times past. There is a variety of reasons I think for that. But with any trend, ones misery usually is someone else's fortune.

    Very Disappointing numbers

Steve.... That is one distinct advantage you guys have. When Fedex Freight can't make a quick delivery for whatever reason, I would have to think CC contractors benefits from that. With regards to internal competition, I am sure they say one division doesn't compete with the other.

    Who pays?

For us, the deductible costs would be determined if there was an act of negligence. If not, then we would cover the deductible.

    Very Disappointing numbers

Sounds like you been scratchin in the pan:D Last I heard there is another batch behind that, but I wouldn't have a clue as to what floors are in them. My understanding is the Fed is not expanding their WG right now. Could be part of the reason, or it is more relevant to another post with...

    My trucks have been busy.

No....I agree with you. But like anything, the more you do it, the better you get at it. The more you do it, the better rapport you develop with certain brokers that pay well. Once one develops the "reliability factor", a lot of times these folks will look for loads for you. So....over time...

    Rates by carriers

If it meets our criteria for an acceptable rate, doesn't really matter. It either pays enough or it doesn't. With regards to the Ca to Vegas run, many west coast brokers calculate on milage there and back. They are assuming the truck is returning empty. If it does, that is ok, if it can grab a...

You will have to likely get outside of Getloaded.

    Nearby trucks

Had a truck unload this afternoon and sure enough, a 300 mile radius of everything. That was overdue, but will be quite helpful. Certainly like it. I hope the future plans with include team/solo count as they do on the current location board and add inbounds with their ETA's

    My trucks have been busy.

I look at backhaul loads differently than brokered loads. Many broker loads will pay exceptionally well. Even LTL can be profitable with a little creativity whether decking a load to get a tractor rate, or laning a load and throwing more than one on. With fuel on the uptick, this is a...

    Knowing your cost per mile

We figure roughly 20 percent of the vehicle cost per year with selling the truck at the end of the fourth year. That is hoping the truck will bring 20 percent of its value at trade in/sale. In most cases it should. That 20 percent comes out of our profit rather than the operating expenses.

    Fedexcc Or Landstar

You might be well served to PM EO member Coco as they went from the Fed to Landstar. I believe also they are now running a van if I remember correctly. Should be able to give you some current numbers and info.

    My trucks have been busy.

I would have to think a T/T would stay reasonably busy whether WG or not. There are several T/T drivers Steve aka Nightcreacher being one of them. Maybe he can chime in and possibly help you out as he says he is busy.

    Anyone with clout

I am less than impressed with what I have seen so far. Complicating the simple is an understatement. I believe we will operate where we know the freight is, and pretty much ignore what they have at this point except for available trucks in the area.
