    Professionalism and Appearance

I agree with you. Even more so in Panther's case since they are dropping the hammer on the hobby expediters. It amazes me that many don't realize they have on site reps watching trucks as they leave and enter a site. Some (not all), might want to ponder that thought for awhile. Additionally...

    Again, trying to show

Know the feeling from many years ago Phil. Start finding your own freight and you won't have that problem. I'm as happy as a pig in poop.

    TriState again

I wouldn't personally care whether it opened a can of worms or not. Our trucks have been requested before because a relative of the driver worked there. If the customer gets what they want , which of course is the main objective, everyone wins. I think it would be foolish on a carrier's part to...

    The Smells of Expediting

    panther new board positions

If you REALLY want to run your own business, when you finish a load, just take yourself out of service. Then book your own load and your percentage will be just fine. We are in the 80/90 range, and we don't run anything that we can't make money on. Nothing really has changed. If your...

Expediters: What Does This Mean to You?

The Phil Madsen that exists in your mind is something you made up and has little resemblence to the real Phil Madsen who lives and works out here in the real world. __________________ Hey......I am a optimist. I hope your right.

Expediters: What Does This Mean to You?

They certainly could and have the freight base to do it. But, they won't. Or, at least not for the foreseeable future. I don't see CC doing multiple loads.

    panther new board positions

I don't think there is any question that Panther's profits are down from last year. I feel pretty comfortable saying that is acrossed the board with just about any freight/expedite company. With regards to the new percentage thing, I would agree. If your turning down one third of the current...

Expediters: What Does This Mean to You?

I believe the Fed seen this coming a year ago. That is why they revamped their FSC to keep a portion of it, changed their dispatch policy to "the cheapest truck willing to do a run", to flat rating their vans. With that said, I along with many others were critical of Phil for many of the posts...

    Another Brilliant Panther Move

That would be my take. If your on the hometime board, those runs that didn't go towards your house aren't refusals. Everything else is the same. If you were out of service and they sent you a run, that is a easy correction. A quick look at when you went OOS would take care of that.

    Another Brilliant Panther Move

I don't see anything wrong with outside observation. It would be different at Panther because they drop you to the bottom of the board, which is what they used to do. Our situation is different because refusals are tied to something being offered at your rate. Doesn't mean it would be a...

    Another Brilliant Panther Move

I believe the number I heard was 67 percent rather than 77 percent. Not that I agree with it, but if you are under that number consistently, you probably aren't making anything anyways.

    SMOKERS, For your consideration

Thanks. Good find. I believe that proves my point and why I don't focus on it. Way too many other things that are issues with that. I had a grandfather that smoked non filter camel and lucky strike cigerettes and lived to 95. What does that mean? Luck. Maybe. Could be a lot of things...

    SMOKERS, For your consideration

I find it funny that many that complain are the same ones that will sit in front of a fire or a barbeque for hours inhaling stonger smoke than someones cigerette puts off. Again, just not a priority that I dwell on.

    SMOKERS, For your consideration

I'm not saying it is bad, but the same people would have no problem walking through NYC, LA or anywhere else that has more pollution than someones cigar or cigarette. Some will will sit in a stagnant truck stop smelling deisel fumes for days. If something like this is a priority to you, why...

    SMOKERS, For your consideration

Since it is one's personal choice, it isn't on the radar of things I am worrying about. Both are difficult situations that someone else can do little about. No different than someone that consistently overeats, drinks too much, or a host of other things. Just a part of life. Not my place to...

    Nations Express........

Might depend on the carrier I quess, but we do well out of NE and KS. Lot of rail yards that provide some decent paying freight.
