Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

Don't have to dig too deep to find those select few in the forums. :D

    "Don't ask, Don't smell."

Regardless of someones position, I think with all the problems in Washington, this should be way down the list of priorities for Obama. During is SOTU address, he lost all credibility with me for bringing this up rather than thanking the troops that are currently there involved Iraq &...

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

Yep...in a nutshell that is the whole philosophy of sending a load out to multiple trucks and seeing who is the dumbest to run it for pennies.

    Dumb Question

And that there is why I operate the way that I do. As for "selling everything", that was a constant recruiting tool from years past by a few goofballs.

    Dumb Question

Very true. That is exactly what forces some to give up a percentage and use a factoring company.

Could be at two seperate issues from two different members. Starvation of fuel or anything related has nothing to do with a operating temp of 165.

    Dumb Question

I think that 10k per truck is what I would put that number at as well. Then again, some just say sell everything you own.

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

To some degree you are right. Some get stuck in that bubble (much like Washington politics) and just don't see anything else. They can and some do eventually, but for many it was way too late. As for whether one can move, those options exist. From a carrier change all the way to becoming the...

Temp sensor is throwing the ECM into protect mode. Check and r/r sensor and replace the thermostats. 165 op temp. is too low for a C7

Is it the ECONOMY? Or are we to blame for the low rates?

I believe several years ago way too many drank the kool aid with their rose colored glasses on and failed to look at the BIGGER picture. There were a couple of posters that constantly beat the drum of new found riches of "you can be a millionaire" and "I make $3.00 a mile", I'm always...

    The MBE 900

I would run the truck you have until it blows up. I have no first hand knowledge of these engines other than what I read. If 19k is the correct replacement cost of an engine, I would just replace it with another truck. 19k will buy something. Stretching a class 8 can be tricky. Most it seems...

    gauges gone crazy

May be just a brain fart with the ECM. The simple solution is to cut the power to it for three or four minutes. Either pull the fuse/relay to it, or unplug it completely. Repower it and see if that corrects it. Worse case scenerio is this fails and you are at the same place you are now. A quick...

    Loads

General freight is typically slower in the first quarter. Add in a crap economy, and maybe slower for some. We have been busy but many of the loads seem to be Hazmat, specialty or DOD loads verses standard expedite loads.

    The MBE 900

Here would be my take. I would agree with Leo in that it is rare to see any of these MBE engines go past the 500k mark. Most in one form or another get problems that seem to be centered around blown turbos, EGR problems, and injector issues. There has been enough issues tht one dealer drop the...

Thanks. It all comes down to in this case to "Businessman first, driver second"

    Would you work for this.

I'll go with "Don't try to complicate the simple". You have to have some margin of availability to be profitable. The more someone is available, they should be making more money. If not, then they need to examine that beyond "just being available" One could be available for a week in Wyoming...

    Volvo issues

We had one of these done on a Cat engine and it was $300. That is a heck of a bill for that repair. It did get me thinking again on these new engines with the EPA junk on them They run a lot hotter and it is still to be determined how fast the external items will wear prematurely. My guess is...

On a C9 it is not a job for the novice. Most of the time the failure is in the pump itself when the bearings start to fail. This causes a bunch of metal to run through the system. There was a service bulletin on the C9 in which they upgraded the pump. Essentially the same pump, just a different...

    Hello Everyone, new guy onboard

I think I would do a little more reading and scrap the buying the truck idea until you understand what you might be jumping into. Driving for someone will take the financial sting out as even the smallest of mistakes can be costly to someone just starting out. As for Hino's, well here is the...
