    My truck was abandoned

Here is what I am driving at. How did he get "to your porch"????? As for going east, many won't run out there regardless of the money.

Might be worth a call to your city/county prosecutors office to see what initial path you should go down as well. Gives you a starting point prior to talking to a attorney. If criminal charges are involved, this is who would be pursuing them.

I would agree with Turtle on this. For some on this it turns into "peeing on your leg and trying to convince you it is raining".

If he walked to your porch, your truck is likely closer than you think. First thing is report it stolen. You probably have a uphill battle on charging this driver with vehicle theft since you let him drive it. More than likely is will be misuse of a auto, and that depends on your state laws. You...

This thread is starting to take the shape of a Obama health-care bill. No need to complicate the simple. At the end of the day, it comes down to carriers that engage in these practices, are a red flag for someone pursuing a relationship with a carrier.

I would say you mirror my thoughts on this. It has nothing to do with what level of capitalization one has or doesn't. There is only two reasons a carrier would engage in this practice. Either to take advantage of contractors to enhance their own revenue stream, or the carrier is working with...

It might make a difference on a short run (less than 300) and one would have that already via the 32 or 8. Runs longer than that would likely be different as Leo stated. What ever is there, would likely be different a day or two out. Many of these boards are so large, the benefit would seem...

If they pay at the end of the run, then they should provide it. Your not borrowing money. You have at that point, already provided the service. As mentioned, many other businesses require a percentage up front before any services are performed.

Same theory as charging maintenance, lease rates or anything else on a trailer to haul the carriers freight. IMO........a total joke. Better off charging a higher freight rate and going to lease your own.

I think a carrier charging 15 percent is ridiculous. A factoring company would charge a fraction of that for the entire amount. I think a carrier should have a obligation to provide that service. That doesn't mean they should, but that would be my expectation. If not, it would be another...

Hino trucks..Panther said to get a Freightliner instead

They also (Panther) says they can't have a speed limiter put on to go to Canada. Not sure why other than that was in a fleet message.
