Who still makes decent deer bars

Deer bars, brush guards, whatever anyone wants to call them, despite looking totally gnarly for the most part, are a really bad idea on a Sprinter if you're hoping to avoid crash damage. They bypass all the energy impact-absorbing crash parts and transfer all that energy directly to the body...

Generally speaking, if the skids can get caught on anything, they will.

    Factory sprinter floor

Generally speaking, you'd want the E-track to sit slightly lower than the floor. That's what happens when you screw E-track to the factory floor and then lay 1/2 inch plywood down between and/or around it. The plywood sits 1/4 inch above the floor. That will prevent a nail from getting caught in...

    Factory sprinter floor

Frankly, you're better off laying down another sheet of plywood and securing it with screws, and then using pieces of carpet remnants to sit under the tubs for sliding. Aluminum sheeting will dent, and with the metal tubs being made from a harder metal than the aluminum, will also gouge them...

    Factory sprinter floor

I agree, it looks very fragile. It looks like a gritty particle board, but it is plywood board with a textured fiberglass coating. The coating on the factory floor of the later model NCV3 is a polyurethane-fiberglass mixture, which resists water absorption a little better than the fiberglass...

    Own an American "Icon"

Bidding is up to $65 million now, thanks to bidder "Racist McShootFace." That user account and his bids have been deleted, but others have continued on. Other screen names of bidders on the site included "Donald Trump," ''shaniqua bonifa" and "Tamir Rice."

You can. As others have noted, the stock floor is durable. It is, after all, designed for freight. I went with the plywood floor because if the floor gets too torn up and needs to be replaced, it's easier to replace a plywood sheet than it is a factory floor.

I didn't rip it out (it's helps insulate for thermal and sound). I just screwed down plywood. Then covered the plywood with a couple of coats of Minwax Polycrylic. Every couple of years I've cleaned it with a scrub brush and put down a couple of fresh coats of the Polycrylic. I've had the rear...

    Own an American "Icon"

When GunBroker.com removed the listing, the owner of the United Gun Group site contacted Zimmerman to have the gun listed on that site, saying they would be proud to host the sale. The listing crashed the site for most of Thursday and the listing was removed. The site owner then said via Twitter...

    Own an American "Icon"

The auction was cancelled just before 11 AM, when the auction was to begin. So far, according to the news reports, no one can find out why, or whether it was Zimmerman who pulled it or the auction site itself canceled it. Although, the auction site probably cancelled it, what with them getting...

Buy a truck, get free fuel

The pre-order price of $1500 doesn't seem like it'll raise enough capital to produce a prototype, much less put the thing into production.

    Own an American "Icon"

George Zimmerman is auctioning off the gun he used to defend himself against the "brutal attack" by Trayvon Martin. The gun is a piece of "American history" and is an "American Firearm Icon." The $350 Kel-Tec PF-9, 9mm pistol's bidding starts at five grand. A portion of the proceeds will go...

Sprinter I smell raw diesel in the cab

I'm sure there are a lot of originals out there, looking like they have a clump of dirt on the underside of the cap, but that can't be good for the fuel system when bits fall off into the tank. It's actually not even rust, it's a type of bacteria that turns into a rust-like substance. I use a...

Sprinter I smell raw diesel in the cab

The oil filler cap fits it. :D I don't know that you can just get one anywhere. I get mine from Europarts. Because the exposed metal on the underside of the cap rusts quickly and often, I replace mine when it starts getting crusty. Which is once a year or sooner.

Sprinter I smell raw diesel in the cab

If it was overfilled (didn't stop when the pump clicked off and you went ahead and added some more), then the overfill vent or a loose cap can spill fuel as it expands after it warms up while driving down the road. But it's unusual in general to lose fuel out of the filler pipe even with a...
