    Beginner Questions

It is hard to comment specifically to some of your questions without knowing who you are driving for. They may be giving some of their loads to their regular drivers as they may look at you as a unknown entity. The biggest problem I see out of your post is that they will not provide you with a...

    All Types Delivery

RichM has some excellent advise. What I do is very simular. I use the Howes power cleaner and the Lucas. Only difference on my engine is I stretch oil changes to 13,000 (no idle time because of generator) and use a full gallon of Lucas on oil changes. If you start to stretch your oil changes...

They are more of a hot shot operation than a expediter. The van division is a courier outfit. Run alot of documents and air freight.

    All Types Delivery

how Rich has gotten the longevity out of that truck he has, when many others don't. With the relatively small trucks of expeding, and a higher torque motor, you can take off pretty quick, if you 'hammer it'... that doesnt' lead to long life tho... seen the movie.. "Like Mike"? I'll bet if more...

    Need advice on ConWay NOW

For what is worth; we ran into a single Conway driver last week in Toronto and he was taking a load to Louisville. He said it was his first load in a week and the third in two weeks. Not sure as to why he has your same situation. We were pre-dispatched on our load the day before while we were...

    Need advice on ConWay NOW

Just my opinion, but if you are not getting loads out of Detroit, something is clearly not right. As Glen said, get their dispatch or operations manager on the phone and ask them what they are doing. If a company can't pull loads out of Detroit it would make you wonder what their capabilities...

    Feedback on Business Plan

RE: Business Plan: An Accounting Oversight? Probably should have mention this in my other post. With being out west you might in addition consider leasing a tractor on with a company. If things don't work out, you have alot of other options to work with. Not a large market out west for used...

    looking 4 a d-unit!

Make sure you understand what kind of truck you are buying and that it is speced correctly for OTR operations. Also, make sure you know exactly what the truck is worth. We have ran into many that paid way over what a truck was really worth. Of course the usual, make sure you have it dyno tested...

    ? for the engine experts

a rebuild or low milage replacement would be the way to go. You are at the same costs to just repair the one cylinder. Just my opinion. That motor is pretty common in the salvage yards. Might find one with low miles. Make sure the block isn't cracked ect.

    OTR WARNING

Once your case is settled, let folks know who it is so they don't have the same misfortune that you experienced. There are quite a few highway ripoff artists out there, and they should be exposed.

    KENWORTH T300

We have a T300 and have had good luck with it. Give alittle in space but you can't beat KW service and durability. Much higher resale as well. Pete is basically the same except some differences in wiring and looks.

    Landing gear froze up

regrease unit and tap with hammer to engage second gear. That should work. On AC, if it is cool in front, bybass valve underneath of sleeper is not closing completely. You either have to close the valve manually or have it replaced. When in the fully open position, that is when you have your...

    Sprinter

It could be that or several other things. Take it to dealer and have them hook it up to computer. If the EGR is failing, that should pick it up.

    Tri-State or Conway now

Not sure on these companies requirements but a 97 may be too old. Our experience with Tri-State was not a positive one. Don't know about Conway. Tri-State has made some changes so you should read some of the posts on here. We had a truck on with them alittle over a year ago. Not sure how they...

    Wi-Fi and computers

We generally use it for internet, card games ect. Also, our statements and company info is readily available. Wi-Fi seems to have worked well for us. Spend the extra dollars for a good antenna. We have two computers, a Gateway and a Toshiba. We bought the Toshiba at Bestbuy because you can walk...

    Truck Spec opinions

different states have different ways of computing weight. Most states will limit you to 12,000 on the front. The heavier axles are usally speced for construction equipment or some other application, not over the road. The back axle would be the same. You can have a axle rated way above the legal...
