    TA Travelcenter - Nashville

We were at the Laredo TA about 2 weeks ago. There are "E"s all about the perimeter of the lot along with a few at the west end that seem to be best suited for straight trucks. However, along the north edge of the east side there are 13 spots marked "E" and there large signs that state that...

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

You are right about the axle ratio being lower (higher numerically) however, the transmission changes as well. All the things that happen along the way from the engine to the tire affect the mileage. However, the real focus for an expediter vehicle has to be aerodynamics. Find a vehicle that...

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

And I was just told by the manufacturer that GVW over 10,000 is currently not available, although there are a few 10,000 GVW available with about 3,400 lbs. cargo capacity. This is not what I'm looking for.

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

So CargoMax is not 4 skid capable.

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

I'm told that the floor length is only 14' long, the GVW is 12,300 dual wheel and the single wheel conversion is rated 10,000 GVW. This is 3 skids, not 4 skids. I'm told 14,200 GVW is not currently available.

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

So a lot of the potential loads could be straight truck class, and straight truck pay!

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

I guess that I should have put a little more definition in here. Please consider that such a vehicle probably would be more of interest to teams and then logging is much, much less of an issue. Yes, either the dually Chevy (14,200 GVW) or Ford (14,500) chassis would be the target. The...

If they made a larger Sprinter type van?

If they a larger Sprinter type van that was VERY aerodynamic, 6,500 cargo capacity, 210" long inside (4 skids deep), and 86" tall inside (2 high), gas powered Ford or Chevy drivetrain for about $45,000, would you be interested? We would. What say you?

You knew it was coming. DOT bans handheld cell phones in trucks.

If "reaching for" a cell phone is illegal, then reaching for anything should be illegal as well. No more coffee, soda water, snacks, food, cigarettes, maps, GPS, or significant others, unless you're out of the driver's seat! Great idea . . . NOT!

    Straight vs Sprinter vs Cargo

Actually, a newer Sprinter CAN easily fit 3 skids end-to-end and still have room for one or two (stacked) beds. We've team in our 2006 3500 for several years and just ordered a new 3500 Extended Sprinter. We will enjoy going wherever we want (like we do now). BOTH revenue and expenses are...

    Standard Mileage Rate.

Oops! Did I misread your post? I think you said I can use the mileage rate as long as I have it?

    Standard Mileage Rate.

Frank, I've owned my van for 5 years now, only the last 2 years as expediting. However, I had some business use the entire 5 years. BUT, I do not want to get another van just yet (it's not used up). Can I sell it to someone and then lease it back to start a new "mileage clock" (to claim...

    rims of sprinter van

Yeah, it's about having a truck that looks a bit nicer. We've had no problems like bent wheels and such. We have an aluminum wheel spare too, just in case. Plus the biggest reason was to change from the TINY 15" wheels stock on our 2006 to the 16" wheels. They just look more proper. And the...

    rims of sprinter van

Well, as far as our six-wheeler is concerned we have real, spun aluminum wheels - no cheap covers . . . made by Alcoa, just like the big trucks. They fit both 2002-6 and 2007-up with the right lug nuts. Maybe they have a wheel with the right offset for the 2500 as well?

Load from DFW to Great Falls MT

1,600 lbs in a Sprinter should provide a near-perfect ride. We'd gladly take in in our Sprinter too! Oh well . . . the customer is always right.

mexican trucks in america are a fact.

I'll sure that this must have been answered somewhere but are Mexican trucks allowed to bring fully fueled trucks over the border, thereby paying far less in fuel costs and no taxes, especially road taxes?

    What did you pay?

The way it looks, I think my mechanic is going to pull the frigging engine to change it. . .
  19. westmicher

    What did you pay?

What did you have to pay to get your Sprinter water pump replaced? They say it requires the whole front end to come apart, from the grill back. Maybe 20 hours?
