    File extensions

    >The chances of picture files actually being a CD Image bin >file is very remote, unless Cheri took the time to use >something like CDRWin to create a bin image. I'm gonna go >with unlikely. Unless it was unintentional, "not bloody likely!" is a safe bet, lol. > >Most likely is, whatever...

    Dispatchers Brain Size?

Welcome to EO, Spacetrucker - that was a well written post. I disagree with the premise, but it was well written, lol. Determining whether the place chosen for the swap is open should be part of the information gathering that is a dispatcher's job, ie: load size, weight, pieces, addresses...

    appliances

On the website for Inverters R Us, there is a FAQ section that explains what you need to know about inverters, and how to choose the correct size & type for the application. I highly recommend reading it, if you don't know for sure - it could save a lot of grief and maybe some appliances, too. ;)

    File extensions

Can anyone explain the file extension 'bin' that is causing photos that I send to be unopenable? The photos are taken with my cellphone, then emailed to myself. The 'bin' extension only appears on some, and I don't know why.

Hey Tallcal, can you make sense out of this?

And empire builders end up alone and despised. Since we all know that a nation divided cannot stand, why do we insist on dividing everything into Republican vs Democrat, right wing vs left, etc? What if we try to focus on areas of agreement, rather than dis, and possible solutions to our...

    COBRA GPS

Baloo makes an excellent point: a laptop isn't a good way to utilize GPS, unless there is a codriver holding it. It's too large to put on the dashboard, which means taking your eyes off the road to look at it, and it's fragile and expensive, not something you want to risk by leaving out all the...

    EO Truck Topics

The story of Glen Rice's accident that destroyed his Lil Deuce Coupe was in EO Dec 15, 2003, titled "A Highway Nightmare" I have it bookmarked, but can't get the link to copy. I never got to meet Glen & his wife Janice, but last I heard they'd decided not to return to driving. I'm sure someone...

    Mistake

I remember being tickled pink to get the B & D Spacesaver coffeemaker in my ex house - filling the reservior at the sink is something even a lefthanded klutz can do without spilling the water. But it soon started leaking, and several friends said the same thing happened with theirs, so I agree...

    Please Help

I was wondering when someone was going to point out that drivers NEED a place to sleep - the front seat is unacceptable, and even if you start out with a thin foam mattress & sleeping bag, you have to take care of yourself as well as your other equipment. Good luck!

    Drivers Solutions and Expedite Solutions

Greg, I went out of state - I researched driving schools, and the one I thought would be best was located in another state. As this is an educational issue, why is that unethical? Once I got my CDLA, I transferred it to my home state, taking just the written part & Hazmat sections again. I'd...

    Percentage of night driving

I drive solo, and my experience is the same as above: most loads are afternoon pickup for morning delivery. I like night driving, most big cities, especially those on the water's edge, are very pretty at night. Good music makes the miles just melt away, it seems. And it makes the afternoon...

    Just asking?

Threads are like conversations in slow motion - if we were screenwriters, they'd be focused, and tight, with nary a wasted word. But we're just folks, and our conversations wander all over the map sometimes, changing direction more often than a lost driver...

    A NEW ARRIVAL!!!

Congratulations, GrandPappy! As the sigline says "Grandchildren are your reward for allowing your children to live" And as I have two precious granddaughters, and a daughter who is 17, (not their mother!) I understand the emotions very well :+ Enjoy!

    Auditor:Billions wasted in Iraq

Uh, Bama - could I get a translation of that last remark? I've read it 5 or 6 times, and feel like I took a stupid pill...

    heat in cargo van

Nobuddys!:+ If it's too hot or cold to sleep without running the van, I run the van all night. I have a propane heater, but don't use it - with the bulkhead wall, it makes it too warm, and I'm afraid I may wake up to find it real hot, cause I threw a blanket on it in my sleep, and have set it...

    What About Houston?

Sorry - had to snap the picture with my cellphone camera - it was a sign on a truckstop, offering "Diesel Fried Chicken" I know they like some weird food in Texas, but I didn't think even Dieselphreak would want to eat that! :P

And I'd have missed this great sign in Texas, too

    What About Houston?

Just like Turtle, I took a load from San Antonio to El Paso, on a Friday, and didn't expect to get anything for the weekend, and was surprised to get an offer Fri night to NC. In fact, I was kind of annoyed, at first, cause I'd planned to wander through New Mexico, taking pictures over the...

    Huh?

Zak, I wasn't being sarcastic about the beach in Feb, I was in Fla 2 wks ago, and the beach was pure heaven! Lots of other people thought so too, cause it was nowhere near deserted. If you get down that way, pick up some red naval oranges - I bought a huge bag to bring home & share, but they...

    Electric tea kettle

There is a GREAT site with a dumb name, Inverters R Us, that explains how to determine how much inverter you need for the watts, and a simple conversion formula for translating watts to amps & vice versa, and it explains that the peak/startup load can require much higher wattage than the run...
