    Panther holding back O/O's

They advertise for teams because it's to their advantage to have teams available for the long runs. They really don't care whether you would 'move up' to a larger truck, (if you earned enough money to do so), they care about covering all the loads they might get. Which means having more units...

Protest on Wall St. What the news media won't show you

"Dumb bankers"? Of course they'll make a 'bad loan' - they're not going to be stuck holding the bag when the loan defaults! By the time the borrower is in deep financial trouble, the loan has been sold several times over. Hawk, you think that people were buying more house than they could...

    Panther holding back O/O's

Twizted1: the problem isn't that Panther doesn't appreciate teams, it's that there are just too many cargo vans competing for the loads available. Driving a van is (relatively) easy, which makes it attractive to a much larger pool of O/Os & drivers than the bigger trucks, and consequently there...

    APU in WG FCC ?????

John: I am sorry to say that I don't know of any women who are looking to drive team - the solo women drivers that I know are all quite content to remain solo, oddly enough. :p I'd suggest you check the EO Classified ads for a codriver - last time I looked, there were plenty. PS: if you...

I don't know how you & Mrs Jimby will do at expediting, but you already fit here pretty well, lol - welcome! :)

    My New Ride!!

Do you think it will be nice enough around Thanksgiving to take her out again??:o Sure - if you move to Fla. :p But in Pa, I wouldn't plan on it until next spring. (Do they use cinders on the winter roads where you live? They did where my daughter lived, in SW Pa, and geez, what a mess!)

    Press GET's B*tchSLAPED!!

I don't get it - Sarah Palin ran over O'Reilly & broke her nails trying to beat Barney & Al Gore & some polar bears to the opening of the movie American Carol?

    sitting on the weekend

Truck maintenance, truck cleaning (interior & exterior), personal maintenance (shower, laundry, haircut, etc), shopping (perishables & small storage space means shopping more often), telephone catchup with family & friends, paperwork/accounting, (business & personal), reading & replying to...

    APU in WG FCC ?????

I forgot one other consideration: California isn't the only place where idling is prohibited - it's catching on all over the country. Without an APU, it gets awfully uncomfortable, sitting somewhere like Laredo in the summer, or Chicago in the winter, and the fine for a violation isn't exactly...

    APU in WG FCC ?????

If you don't mind idling your truck 24/7 for heat or AC, then an APU isn't necessary. But if you'd rather save the fuel and wear & tear on your truck, an APU is a 'must have'. It will pay for itself, probably several times over, during the life of the truck.

    Great Places To Eat!!!

I tried to check this one out, (Garcia insisted) about a year ago, mouth all watering for good Mexican food - but they're closed on Mondays.

    Freightliner Columbia vs Classic

One difference I noticed: the Columbia's interior was better designed. It could be just an option, but every Century I saw had those incredibly boneheaded nets over the cabinet openings - the ones that require both hands to open both sides. None of the Columbias had such an asinine feature.

sleeper in a chevy CV 2500 extended

Miker: you'll find the dimensions of the mattresses written on the label - next time you're in the store where they're sold, you can see what the size is. As for whether you can be comfortable with that much space, lay a flat sheet on the floor, folded as wide as you want to test, (ie 24") and...

    Hard Times

What posts? Almost all of Turtle's posts are witty, and he's got a knack for finding just the right illustration for the occasion, with the little characters from Smiley Central. I enjoy them so much that I hardly feel jealous that he writes so much better than I do. OK, I'm jealous, lol - but...

sleeper in a chevy CV 2500 extended

Miker: Strongsville is a SW suburb of Cleveland, exit 161 on the turnpike. I was a van O/O for 2 yrs, then switched to driving a D unit for an owner. (I felt like Goldilocks: t/t was too big, van was too small, but a D unit is juuuuust right, lol.) :D My sleeper was built by an individual who...

sleeper in a chevy CV 2500 extended

While I won't go into the specific methods of building a sleeper in a van (Turtle, Moot, Ontariovanman, Relent, & Dhalltoyo can do that much better), I will say that having a comfortable place to sleep is a necessity. I highly doubt that having a sleeper in the van I owned cost any loads, but...

    what is a good inverter

I found a lot of useful info on the Inverters R Us website: how to determine how much I need, what kind, and what it would cost, too. It sure helped me feel less stoopid when Turtle described "pure sine inverters" and "isolators", lol. :D
