No......those plans do not have to meet the Obamacare guidelines. In otherwords, if you are 60, and have a plan written on or before 2010, and haven't been cancelled by the carrier, you can keep that plan. Probably should add, most will call or refer to these as "grandfathered plans or...

Keep in mind that if you have a policy that was written in 2010 or before, you can keep that policy with no changes. That is assuming they didn't send you a cancellation policy. So......may not have to pretend you are broke afterall. :cool:

And the government certainly profits from it. Who do you think is keeping those fines/penalty? I do agree that one of the benefits of Obmacare is the pre-existing component and carriers can't just drop you. However, that could have been done without Obamacare. Again though, just moving money...

I wouldn't necessarily call them "death panels" but you are correct, the hard right refers to them as such. Kind of like the democrats portraying the right pushing granny off the cliff in a wheelchair.

I said "death panels was a harsh word" but lets not kid each other. The commitees are already in place to determine what proceedures and at what age they will or won't perform something. These people are bean counters rather than physicians. This is specifically for the people in the medicare...

It would be hard to quantify an answer without knowing what "screwed by the insurance companies" means. Does it mean coverage not provided that wasn't paid for? Or...people kicked off a policy when they got sick? Could mean alot of things. Will government intervention change that. Not really...

The information is likely coming from a carrier. Shelley did a great article addressing some of the liability problems with the multis. Just a matter of how much exposure a carrier wants. Case in point, I am aware of a wreck involving a multi that had shipments on from two different carriers...
