    Real Threat?

Not a thing. It either is a concern since they are investigating it, or it is political in nature. There is a lot of Muslims there but that doesn't mean they are taking over the education system.

    truck size question

Cutting the deck plate is about I you can do. I wouldn't cut the box. If that can't be made to work, I think I would pass. Unfortunate situation but have to agree with the others, you are on the hook if sign on the dotted line on truck that isn't legal. Remember, business person first, driver...

True, but the bad news is it takes big money to win any election. Just how it is.

    Lois Lerner prosecution

You are correct. Nothing will happen. Since the DOJ would be doing the prosecuting it won't see the light of day. Pretty much like the other scandals on the merry-go-round.

Minimum wage may go up to $10.10 in some state.

Probably time for a reality check. Is there $3.00 a mile freight out there? Yes, but it is primarily for tractors, and specialty hauling of some kind. Not expediting. Maybe some reefer/tval freight but very few are available on the open market through a broker. Look at it this way, if there was...

Minimum wage may go up to $10.10 in some state.

Most of the advantage to a fleet owner depending on the company is either through operational issues or a higher percentage or mileage rate. A fleet owner likely pays a lot less per truck for insurance but that would be outside of a carriers offering.

    Cost cutting measures

There are some good opportunities out there but one has to make sure they don't just become just the opportunity for the carrier. After doing this for a long time, one becomes keen on spotting when the manure is higher than the boots.

    Cost cutting measures

I get sick and tired of nameless carriers taking advantage of their operators only to follow a short time later with "we are expanding". And of course that means "more miles". You are right, I usually don't say much when this kind of stuff happens but my concern is whether we are...

    Cost cutting measures

That is exactly why I call them "Bottom Feeders". They are a total embarrassment to the industry. The idea that they have to screw the driver to survive is completely laughable. Yep...depressed-one is certainly one of them. Screw all their contractors with a rate cut only to follow a month...

What would war with Russia look like?

Been away for a few days. Maverick....really? Just a little too much proof out there on this one. As mentioned, if anyone wanted this buried, it would be the Germany. Even they can't run from it. Just too much out there.

    Cost cutting measures

Since we are seeing once again another carrier cutting its drivers rates, what cost cutting measures would folks recommend? The big one of course is anything that enhances fuel savings. What are people doing? They new and the old might be able to pick up a trick or two.

Minimum wage may go up to $10.10 in some state.

As for "shared losses", I am not seeing that. Rates have went up to the customer, but rates in many instances have dropped with relation to the operator. Last Sylectus report confirms that. To be fair, cost to operate from the carrier's side have continued to rise as well. Can't be blind to...

Minimum wage may go up to $10.10 in some state.

The clash with many carriers is that they are trying to maintain the same profits as years past. Since freight rates have been stagnant, they are going right after the owner operators earnings. That is why you see detention and dry run pay issues. Most are afraid to even approach the customer...
