Becoming a Fleet Owner (in 2014)

Probably won't like my answer. Save your money and go to Vegas. Odds will be much better on a return. As mentioned, you are inexperienced and trying to jump in to something with razor thin margins. There is a reason there are very few van fleet owners. Have to be realistic. What driver is...

    What's wrong with this thinking?

You mean we used to have separation of church and state. I think most are ok with birth control, they just don't want to pay for someone else.

    What's wrong with this thinking?

What does make sense is we are surrounded by "freeloaders" no matter where one might be at.

a bad and costly trend....Detention time

That answer is closer to reality. Unless there is a incentive for the shipper or carrier to do something, it isn't about to change. Just a reality of the business. Carrier doesn't want to lose a customer to a competitor, and is not going to threaten that relationship because a driver can't get...

Charlotte and Atlanta at a all time low been stuck for 7 days...

You can create your own over time, network with current drivers or go to free freight sites and see what activity is going on in a given area. Some carriers give you good information, and some dribble out a list of useless information. Type of equipment is another factor. Usually though, if I...

    Roku Stick VS Chromecast

Too many things to drive you crazy. I looked at reviews for Chromecast and they are all over the place. Not sure how it compares to Roku. I have to guess internet speed has something to do with some of the poor reviews. That Amazon box looks interesting.

What would war with Russia look like?

In this case it had to be presented as such because the used source of information was from Fox. Then it was presented as a unreliable source for this type of information. So a alternative piece was added. Don't worry, you don't have to convince me.

What would war with Russia look like?

Good Grief. Fox News is reporting on what is being presented by Life Science. They are having a show on the Smithsonian Channel. Fox really offers no commentary either way. I guess your thoughts are items are planted and they are doing a show to dig them up? But I guess some need another...

    Delicate Subject

The best advice I could give is have a will and a affordable life insurance policy. If the family is in a position to take care of everything and there are no kids, then no need for the insurance. Some planning is always a good idea. Even more so if you have dependents of any kind.

    Dead head

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on if one knows their costs to operate and how that relates to the marketplace. As those "less desired runs" become more frequent (and they will), then things of a undesirable nature start to happen. Just watch. Every time I have seen this happen, it is never a good...

    Dead head

Then again, they could cut the rate, followed by a ten cent a mile increase, then pat themselves on the back for a month because half their fleet left, only to finally take it back and then blame their competitors because, well because they just don't know how to sell freight. Wait a minute...
