    Who Is Transborder Express

We've maybe hauled two loads for them and we got paid. Can't tell you much else.

    Landstar question

Ok, in service makes sense. Out of our 30 odd we might have a half dozen or more out of service at any given time.

    Landstar question

If we've got over 30 in service, I would venture they have more than 112.

    Landstar question

I don't know about driving for them, but if you have your authority or are thinking about starting up as a carrier, there are worse things you could do than get Landstar approved. Once an agent likes you, you'll find yourself having to turn down loads. They're pretty good to work with as a...

Los Angeles at a standstill for Sprinters and Cargo vans

Word to the wise here. The other day I posted a cargo van load. I went with the carrier that bid over $1 a mile rather than one that bid .80 because I wasn't sure what kind of service I'd get from the cheap one.

    Who Is Transborder Express

There are two companies with Transborder in the name, one in NY and the other around Chicago. We've worked with both, but I can't tell you anything from a driver's perspective.

New DOT physical qualifications start May 21st

I think what this means is that we're going to see a lot of people getting physicals in the next couple weeks.

You've got to be kidding me

The same thing happens when you have dispatchers who are only used to booking bid board freight and then you introduce a customer or a non Sylectus 3PL into the equation and they want to quote the same lower prices with them. I've had to set up a different point of contact for direct customers...

    We joined the dark side

Yep, but the cost of the bond is still a bit more than when it was 10k.

You've got to be kidding me

It's been a little down the last couple weeks, but Charlotte isn't too bad of a place for freight. That's something that's always baffled me when we would get a truck come over form a larger carrier and say that we keep them busier, until I took a closer look at the situation. Some of the...

    We joined the dark side

Well, it's not cheap, but I found a group that financed it so I'm making quarterly payments. It's a bit easier on the budget. The bond is now 75k.

Is it time to get out of expediting.....

The best thing that could happen for vans is for a good number of them to quit or switch to another truck type. Supply and demand and all that.

Is it time to get out of expediting.....

We have a couple straight truck drivers who live in Florida and we usually get them back out after they've had home time. Most of the time we bid loads going down there with the miles back at least to Jacksonville included in the bid. We get a fair amount of those loads. As to the van thing...

You know, there's freight out of Midland on occasion, and usually not much competition around there. It's a risk though if you move there and nothing pops in that area.

    Getting off the Road.

It's kind of weird when you first come off the road, but after a while you get used to it. Sometimes there are things I miss, but then again I think I like little things like sleeping in a real bed every night, having a decent man cave to hang out at the end of the day, being more active in my...

    We joined the dark side

Yeah, we started trying to move up the food chain a bit and found out that if you can't broker out the excess, the shippers don't want to deal with you that much. The bond took a little longer to get with the increased amount, but I finally managed it. Now we just need to get a good customer...

    We joined the dark side

We're now a broker. Just got the broker authority and the bond in place a few days ago and we've brokered a whopping one load so far. Now we just need to get something of a customer base built up so we can have something to broker on occasion. We've been trying to build up something of a...
