    April locations and more

I didn't realize how long it had been since I've been on here, but my location hasn't changed at all. Must be a dead area.

Panther Broker / loadboard... Anyone work with them?

We do the occasional load as a partner. You won't have any trouble getting paid. They're like clockwork as far as that goes. They like to skim off the accessorial pay though, like offering you weird amounts for dry runs and detention, so I figure they're charging more than that and offering...

Ever find a critter in your truck?

I opened the door and found a tarantula sitting on the pavement, and picking up a load in Del Rio once a stray dog tried to hop into the truck after I gave it some leftovers.

What happens if you die on the road?

If you're not sure what happens when you die, it seems like a conversation with your pastor might be in order. There are some on here who could help you in that area as well.

    Adding a van

Yeah, stick with straights. A couple years ago we had a lot of vans and since then we've switched the focus to straights. Now out of our 30 units, only 6 aren't dock high.

    What about the new Ford???

Nice looking van. Looked a lot like a Sprinter copy.

Some brokers have the load and some are just fishing.

Well, there's a way to handle that situation too. If you expect some communication back from a broker when they don't use your bid, they should expect the same communication back from you at the point you are no longer available to haul that load. If you have a bid in with a broker and haven't...

    Post Expo BBQ

Ok, a friend "blessed" us with an abundance of zucchinis, so I came home after the expo today and baked several loaves of bread. I'll bring 2 or 3 with me tomorrow and I'll have them in my booth, booth 372. We're right next to Bolt. Anyway, maybe someone could come by around closing time and...

When she's gone, get a young one. You won't get much work done then either.

    Who posts these loads?

I see it a lot with loads from C.H. Robinson. I'll get an email from them and then within a minute three different people will have it posted on Sylectus.

    Yet another rescue

Except she was there when I found them. This one is much healthier, so as long as I can convince her, he might be able to stick around for the long haul. We live on 3 wooded acres, so there are quite a few strays. The young ones are easy to domesticate, but any others I find will probably get...

Am I being to picky with DH miles

It's not about the amount of DH miles, but about if the revenue is high enough over the cost to do the load to make it worth your while.

Bordentown to JFK - Best Route(s) for Straight Truck

In all my time on the road I did quite a few runs into JFK and I found that generally I had better luck going across Staten Island than the GW.

    TK

Happened to me once. We had a team load from Chicago to Hartford, CT that we had to use another carrier because our truck broke down. I was told it was a team truck, only to find out the next morning that the solo driver in a day cab was shut down by DOT in PA. Then I had to find another...
