Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

I think a lot of businesses like to hire those with a military background. They like the self discipline and work ethic that the military instills. They like the fact that people with a military background, for the most part, respect their superiors. Maybe that could be twisted into something...

Why does panther put you on a pro before you even accept?!

Forced/ non-forced dispatch is a very fine line that carriers have to work with. The better carriers who have better rates are generally the carriers who have direct shippers. In order to keep those direct shippers, they have to cover all of their loads resulting in some unfavorable loads. There...

It's back to the doc again for me this week. That and a few other loose ends here at home. With the weather warming up, my bank account being empty and hopefully an up tick in freight, I'm hoping to be back at it next week sometime. I do have one particular issue that somebody else is really...

Yes, the long range forecasts that I've seen are showing warmer than normal temps for February....except in the great lakes region and northeast. Then March is supposed to bring warmer weather for those areas too. They have been predicting this for a while and it seems to me that the warm up is...

I can see it now, eb parked in the truck lot using the side of a trailer as a big screen. You could sell tickets!

A lot depends on the sleeper. My numbers would be quick sale for $26-$28k. If the sleeper is a nice, custom built sleeper it might bring more. According to OVM, you could buy a new 2012 off the lot for $32k last fall. What I would do to get it gone? I would do as suggested...talk to the finance...

Reminds me of my high school basketball coach (yeah...I played...1st five even :) ). There were no excuses. "So, you got a cold? I'll run it out of ya!". And, he meant it! Lol. My sympathies to the driver's family. My family has lost a few people in accidents. The sudden shock makes it really...

Your going to take a $6,000-$8,000 hit on what is owed vs the real value of the van. The thing is, the longer you hang on to it, the worse it will get. First thing you need to do is talk to the lien holder, tell them straight up what your up against. You might get lucky enough and they work...

Is the multi-carrier business model worth it?

That would be my opinion, but I don't have enough miles on mine to say much about it. My guess is that if you chase that rumor to the source, you'll find somebody maxing out the original 12,300 gvwr a few times a year. I'm not going to say that I have never fudged the gvwr a bit, but I don't...

    TV for the van.

From what I have read, it will work great as long as your not trying to use an over the air antenna...and I think that will work with at least some of the projectors. I can see mounting the projector to the ceiling and having a pull down screen above the back doors and surround sound. I'm not...

I like the projector idea. I've looked at them, but it looks like a good set up would get expensive? I'm wanting to keep the cost down for now, but might take another look later. I think a projector would be awesome and might possibly be a better fit for my setup than a tv. I have a laptop and...

I understand the rest, but for me at least, it seems to happen more now. But, the actual dispatch reorganization is not all that old so maybe it during the transitional period. Anyway, your aware of it. That was my intention. Ive been meaning to ask about it, Dreamer's post just reminded me...

That makes sense. Is there any solution for the problem. Im guessing it is as frustrating for the dispatchers as it is for the driver.

That has happened to me a couple of times also. All since the creation of the new system. The first time, I was really happy to lose the load as it was one of those famous short, minimum rate loads. The second time, it was a Laredo load that got yanked away. It seems to me that somebody had...

Wonder how many trucks were lost to "Carb" rules Jan 1st?

I know that if the rates do spike, there will be a scramble to get certified trucks in the fleet to take advantage of the rates...but wouldn't it be great to see 'em suffer a few years? I would love to see a situation where it takes 2 to 3 years minimum for the capacity to catch up...leaving...
