    2008 Hino 268 no power

2008-2010 trucks don't have crankcase filters. We're running out of things to check. I've seen the tube to the boost pressure sensor get clogged up before. It's on the intake manifold. How mush boost does it make on a test drive?

    P2002 - Just Purchased Truck

Did they take the DPR out? The DOC face will melt away, usually caused by injectors overfueling.

    2008 Hino 268 no power

I'd actually put my hands on the turbo and confirm that it spins freely. It can't have any binding. This is a fairly common problem.

    2008 Hino 268 no power

Intake throttle valve. It's on the front of the intake manifold. The intercooler hose attaches to it. Make sure the throttle plate is tight on the shaft. It should also have three holes drilled in the bottom of it. Do a search to find the placement of the holes. Sometimes on the 08-10 trucks...

    2008 Hino 268 no power

Brake switch concerns are very common, so I'd double check with DX2 to confirm they are both off.

If you can get them to email you a copy of the dx report, you can email it to me or post it here so we can get a better idea of what's going on.

    2008 Hino 268 no power

Is it trying to do a driving Regen? How many bars are on the DPR graph on the dash?

    2008 Hino 268 no power

There is no turbo speed sensor so it will always read zero. Check the VNT, EGR and ITV with DX2 and make sure they all react correctly. Use DX2 to check brake switch and stop lamp switch correlation. Is this truck air or hydraulic brake? You can use the leak check function to see if it will...

    P2002 - Just Purchased Truck

The first and easiest thing to check is if the ITV has been modified. Remove the hose on the intercooler and see if the throttle plate on the intake is loose. You'll want to drill three 3mm holes in it. If you search, you'll find a picture of where these holes should go. The throttle plate can...

    P2002 - Just Purchased Truck

If there's a thick layer of soot in the tailpipe there is likely DPR damage. They don't go bad by themselves, something caused it. If the DPR is replaced and no other action taken, the new one will be damaged, too.

    P2002 - Just Purchased Truck

If you are monitoring the DPR graph, does it gradually climb to ten bars, or does it jump up? There are many causes of low power, and low power during Regen. Hino DX2 needs to be connected and a report taken for more clues. There could be an airflow problem (ITV, turbo), the injectors...

You can put 12v to the two silver terminals then test for continuity at the two copper ones.

    2017 Hino 268 Starting Issue

I had a truck come in today with the same symptoms. Power relay #3 had failed. Unfortunately, while the fuses have labeling to identify them, the multitude of relays do not. Power relay #3 is in the top row, third from the right.

    An End Times Message

People have been predicting the end times for 2000 years. I wouldn't worry at all about it.

    2017 Hino 268 Starting Issue

The recall does not apply to your truck. Yes, it could be a relay issue, someone capable with a multimeter needs to get in there and check the power path through the relays down to the starter solenoid. Since it's intermittent, troubleshooting it will probably be more difficult.

    Intermittent P0087

I have had a lot of medical issues. Bleh. It sounds like you're on the right track. I would be looking at historic fuel temps with DX software. If the temp is over 200 degrees, I'd suspect a high rate of internal leakage with the fuel pump. This can cause P0087 in some cases, and it makes...

Hino 338 air conditioner recharge question:)

The industry standard says to vacuum the system for about an hour every time the system is opened. So I'd guess you'd be looking at a couple hours of labor, plus the cost of refrigerant. Pretty much any shop with an AC machine can accomplish this, so labor times will vary.

    2010 HINO 258 Burns Oil

Yes, there's no filter in that housing. It's normal for oil to be in that system. You've ruled out all of the regular suspects and it looks like the base engine is the culprit. The compression is a little low, like you said. It probably needs to be rebuilt at this point.
