No, but it's exactly what the clear visioned warned they'd be voting for.
Yes .... and some with
reeaally clear vision warned that failure to put aside the derogatory labeling, the constant partisan bickering, the name-calling, the false left/right paradigm, and a failure to organize around a third party candidate ...... would deliver the presidency right into the hands of Obama ...... because the brand (Republican) was (and still is) tainted, and the offered product (McCain) defective .....
Reasonably intelligent people aren't gonna buy the same old crap - the guys that while they know the right words to say, can't sing the tune, can't deliver, can't get the ball across the goal line. Ain't gonna happen.
In fact, you could say that due to the failure to support a viable 3rd party candidate, those at the grassroots level on the Right - the ones with "clear vision" - literally drove folks into the arms of Obama. Almost too funny ...... if it weren't so sad ........
Voters, ever hopeful that a new face will bring the change they seek, united around someone - likely foolishly, considering who it was - who they thought might deliver that change.
Just in case you hadn't noticed, the folks that most people want to seem listen to and want to support are those that offer some known path or activity that actually leads towards accomplishing something (politically) that produces real change in the conditions that they see as needing changing.
They tend not to support (or listen to) those folks that go around ranting about the Left (or the Right), liberals (or conservatives), Democrats (or Republicans) etc., etc. .... because they tend to view such folks as extremists ..... wackos .... Far Right, or Far Left.
I'm sure that's it's quite alot of fun, and I'm also quite sure that there is immense satisfaction with being able to pat oneself on the back while saying:
"See - I told you so" .... but you really are only preaching to the choir anyways, and they are already with you ..... so why bother ?
You ain't gonna convince anyone that ain't already there yet -
because the exact technique you are employing is guaranteed to drive them away. At the end of the day (or week, or month, or year) what have you accomplished ? .... nada ..... zip.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, elections are won, on the margin, thru appeal to the broad middle of the political spectrum - coming into the Soap Box on a regular basis and posting things which simply alienate those with which you might form a coalition to accomplish real change, probably isn't a real smart tactic, and certainly isn't a very bright strategy. But hey, it's a free country ... go ahead .... keep on doing the same ol', same ol' (.... what is it that they say about continuing to do the same thing and expecting a different result ?)
You (and others) had the opportunity to support a candidate that had a fairly broad appeal across partisan lines - which is where you really need to be: building a wide coalition, around a alternative candidate that isn't a bought and paid for part of either party's machine.
Continued adherence to the
fixed idea that the deck is stacked and that no 3rd party candidate is viable will get you exactly the same thing that that operating principle got you the last time you used it:
no results
Now after that debacle ('08 elections), what are the so-called "clear-visioned" folks gonna offer up for 2012 .... Sarah Palin ? ..... maybe Mitt Romney ? ........ Mike Huckabee ? ..... or, if you want a real gut-buster, how's about this one ...... Jeb Bush ?
If the above are the best ya can muster, well then, you really don't need to worry much about wresting control from the Dems and Obama ..... it likely ain't gonna happen for a long, long time ....
Get comfy, and settle in .... cause it's gonna be a long, cold winter for ya, in terms of the political season.
