The $1,000 Wild Boar in Texas

Hi Everyone,

When you drive for a living you've probably seen just about everything.   We had a client call us about this wee “pig tail” .   On a night run from Texas to Tennessee, our straight truck driver came over a hill and out runs a wild boar, then KaBoom, he knocks porky into the median.

He pulls over and fortunately the bumper is bent back, but not enough to obstruct the front wheel in any way. It’s about just 4:00 am and the middle of nowhere, no time to wait for a police report and on top of that, the wild boar is gone too.   From 4:00am till our office opens at 8:00am, all our client could think of is the bumper must be about $1,000...and with a $1,000 collision deductible.

"That Darn Pig cost him a grand and he didn’t even get a slice of bacon!” Well fortunately as it turns out, most of our Owner Operators have $100 comprehensive deductible and animal hits are considered a comprehensive claim.   At least that’s a little leaner white meat!

(So remember, Comp = Fire/Theft/Vandalism/Windshields...and Animal hits.)

Stay warm out there!
