What is your New Year’s Resolution?

At Trucker CFO, our team will be focused on reaching out to the men and women behind the wheel, providing more of the information professional drivers need to maximize your profitability within the trucking industry. We view our plans for 2023 as a deeper commitment and as an extension of the outreach work that the Trucker CFO Team has been doing over the past few years.

In reviewing our communication and engagement efforts with professional drivers in 2022, we are going to be expanding and customizing some of our outreach programs for the coming year. Beginning in the first week of January, for instance, we plan to start sending out weekly editions of our Trucker CFO Newsletter. These weekly releases, sent out each Thursday, will highlight one or two featured items that can help you with the business of trucking and life on the road.

You will also see us produce and release more episodes of the Trucker CFO Podcast, where we plan to go beyond tax and accounting issues and explore other key trucking-related topics with featured guests. We will be continuing to spotlight those podcast releases right here as part of our blog posts through ExpeditersOnline.com. In addition to the podcast releases featured here, we also have some plans to make this blog an even more valuable tool for owner-operators, independent contractors and small fleet owners in the expedited sector of the industry.

One of the broadest outreaches that the Trucker CFO Team will be making in 2023 can be heard through the Dave Nemo Show on SiriusXM’s Road Dog Trucking Radio Channel 146. This past year, I began working with RadioNemo as a contributor to the Dave Nemo Show and the Tim Ridley Show. During tax season. I was appearing each week on a rotating basis being interviewed by Dave Nemo, Tim Ridley and Jimmy Mac. Once tax season ended, I appeared twice per month. Throughout 2022, we talked about tax, accounting and business planning topics as well as other issues that impact professional drivers – especially owner-operators, independent contractors and trucking business owners.

We know that our on-air efforts, which included opportunities to participate in live remotes with the RadioNemo Team, made a positive impact during the past year. In making plans for 2023, we are taking our outreach efforts over the airwaves to a new level. Beginning on January 4, Trucker CFO will be presenting Driving Your Dollars, a regular segment that is being produced in collaboration with RadioNemo of North America. Driving Your Dollars can be heard each Wednesday through the end of April at 10:30 Eastern time as a regular segment on the Dave Nemo Show through SiriusXM’s Road Dog Trucking Radio Channel 146. Driving Your Dollars will then shift to twice per month on Wednesdays from the beginning of May through the end of the year.

In addition to having a set day of the week and a regular time slot, the Driving Your Dollars segments will have a regular host. Michael Burns, who is the Co-Founder and General Manager of RadioNemo of North America, will be behind the wheel and behind the microphone, leading the conversation each Wednesday. In 2022, I had the opportunity to work with Michael when he served as a fill-in host a couple of times during our Trucker CFO segments on RadioNemo. In those appearances together, Michael and I discovered that we have a great deal in common. As part of his executive management role at RadioNemo of North America, Michael serves as the company’s CFO. Michael has a terrific connection to professional drivers – having been behind the wheel as an owner-operator.

Michael’s overall life and work experience isn’t limited to trucking. Dave Nemo often refers to Michael as a true renaissance man. This is very true, especially when you consider Michael’s experience in law enforcement and becoming a record producer while also working as a songwriter. At this time of year, it’s always fun to note that Michael put his trucking experience and musical talents together to write the song “Christmas Comes on Eighteen Wheels.”

I am now counting down the days to the debut of our Driving Your Dollars segment. Michael and I have some great topics planned as everyone works their way through tax season and meeting the key deadlines that are upcoming in 2023. If you would like a preview of what you can expect to hear during Driving Your Dollars, we have included an excerpt from a late November segment Michael and I did together on RadioNemo within our latest podcast release that we are sharing with you here.

During this edition of the Trucker CFO Podcast, we also take some time to look back and discuss some of the highlights that our team experienced during 2022. As you’ll hear, we value all of the opportunities that we’ve had to reach out to professional drivers. Speaking of important outreaches, I would also like to take a moment here to thank the team at On Time Media and ExpeditersOnline.com for making this Trucker CFO blog series possible.

We are excited about the road ahead in 2023 and we are looking forward to accelerating our outreach to professional drivers as you navigate the business of the trucking industry. We want to serve a resource that will help to explore the key issues that impact the bottom line of your business, and we want to continue to periodically touch on topics that can help the road become a little smoother for you.

At Trucker CFO, we always stand ready to help. If you have questions about taxes, accounting or other aspects of your business, or if you would like to learn more about Trucker CFO, please visit us at TruckerCFO.com.
