Patience and Pumpkin Pie

Thanksgiving is upon us again. Watch out this week for additional traffic, distracted drivers and lost travellers. There will be more traffic on the roadways not going to their daily destinations. Have some patience, watch for quick maneuvers and increase your following distance.
Don’t be the turkey that causes the big pile up on the road from inattention.
Just because you got that gravy load this week, don’t let the good revenue from that load go to pay the attorney for the low clearance you hit while distracted.
With the added stress of a holiday this week, don’t forget to be kind. Say Thank You, after all, it is Thanksgiving in a few days.
As you may be focused on Thanksgiving Day, don’t let your guard down, Black Friday is the day after and the traffic will return again with a vengeance. All those shoppers coming off their turkey, dressing, cranberry and pumpkin pie highs will again take to the streets in search of the Mother of All Deals for their next holiday gathering.
Now that all the sad news is noted, a small beacon of light shines ahead. Cyber Monday. At least this “holiday” does not add to the traffic, all these shoppers can do so right from their sofa.
Holidays bring on added stress to your already stressful life on the road. The desire to get the trip done and return home to be with family and friends can make some truckers drive in a manner they normally would not. It is better to get home late than to not get home at all. Expect added delays this week. Plan your route accordingly. Plan your time around the added delays from the increase in traffic and the subsequent increase in crashes. Traffic this week will be like Friday afternoon going into a three day weekend, in the summer months, but worse as Thanksgiving Day nears.
While you sit in traffic this week… and you will, use that time to be thankful for all that you do have and also for the things you do not.
Have a great Thanksgiving wherever you find yourself and above all, be safe.

Make it a habit to tell people thank you. To express your appreciation, sincerely and without the expectation of anything in return. Truly appreciate those around you, and you'll soon find many others around you. Truly appreciate life, and you'll find that you have more of it.

See you down the road,
