Was My Face Red

As my face turned red and I said bad words about one of God’s creatures, I still had to laugh.

Squeaky is our first cat, and he has taught us a lot, one of which is a cat does what they want, and they are not overly concerned about the consequences.  He has been with us since a young kitten, and in five years, we have learned to anticipate what will up-set him and take actions to keep him from yowling at 2 in the morning.

For a cat that was born and destined to die under a rose bush, he has put on a lot of airs.  Squeaky does not like to see silver on the bottom of his food dish nor the bottom of the water dish he shares with Texas, our German Shepherd.

The pains we happily go through to grant his wishes are pretty comical.  When stopped, you will see his cat bed and his fleece blanket on the dash so he can watch.  After taking Texas out for a walk, he gets his treats, and he makes sure as soon as she is in the truck that we not forget.  As I prepare to go to bed in the evening, he meows at first that change into a yowl if he thinks he is being ignored, and I do not give him his tablespoon of tuna.

When we stop at a customer, he immediately jumps up on the dash.  We have two hard rules that he not always quietly abides by; he is not allowed on the dash or under our feet when the truck moves.

Lately, he has decided to stand on the steering wheel and honk the horn.  We have moved the steering wheel’s position so that he cannot stand on it at night.

Well, now to wow was my face red…

While at a customer’s location, Bob was talking to the receiver as I sat up front.  We had been there for a while, but we were in no hurry.  Squeaky was checking things out, looking out the window and he stepped on the horn.  OH MY GOSH, the horn blared, the cat took off and I sat there looking guilty with my face turning red.  The customer turned to Bob, who was laughing at that time, and he said, “your wife must be ready to leave.”  Bob said, nope, that was our cat and his new habit.  I felt horrible though that a customer would think I would be rude enough to honk the horn like that.
