It's a Team's Life

Making the best of it

We are parked at the Lazy Days KOA in Tucson, Arizona for the weekend.  This KOA welcomes trucks and has a place to park your trailer if that is needed.  The parking spaces all are gravel with a concrete pad that has a table and chairs.  Many of the sites have hedges as well as a tree that helps to shade the area and make them a little more private.  The KOA has a lot of great amenities and welcome dogs with a very nice dog park.

We have been experimenting with using RV Parks this year and have found them to be very refreshing.  Our Cascadia fits in well with the other campers and the coaches, the clean lines of the hood of the Cascadia and mirrors lets it stand out among the other RV’s.

Staying away from home for weeks or months at a time can cause us to burn out and we have found that these weekends away from truck stops give us a much-needed break and we feel rejuvenated.

As of right now, the cost to park is more than pay to park at the truck stops but the amenities sure make it nice.  This weekend we have had unlimited access to a pool, showers, walking trails, and a dog park.  The laundry room was very large with plenty of washers and dryers.  There is also a restaurant and bar here and get this …. the pool is next to the bar and they will serve you as you relax beside the pool.  What a life.

Idling is not allowed so having shore power is a must.  Another requirement is to be able to contain any grey water.  We are able to close the drain on our holding tank for our sink so that we do not spill anything on the ground.  Our next sleeper, an ARI, will have an RV setup so that we can hook up to the sewer with our shower and our sink and we will also be able to use the park's water.  While the showers at the RV parks are very nice it will be even nicer to use our own shower within the truck.

We have found that these weekends are worth the price and the peace of mind knowing that our truck is safe and our pets will stay cool and comfortable.
