Longgggg Holiday Weekends

Over this past Memorial weekend, we delivered in Tucson, AZ on Friday and were not picking up until Tuesday morning.  We pretty much had a guaranteed three and a half days of sitting and the truck stop did not sound appealing.

Networking always comes in handy when we have this type of dilemma and I reached out to a Facebook friend for her recommendations as Tucson is their home base in their truck.  She recommended two campgrounds that allow commercial vehicles, KOA Lazy Days and Mission View RV Resort.   We chose the Mission View RV Resort for the price as well as the people.

We wanted a place to park that would be quiet, have a plugin for the truck, laundry, showers, and a place to walk Texas.  Everything we needed we found at the park along with a few nice bonuses.  One being friends of ours were in the same dilemma and they decided to join us for the weekend, and we found out Facebook friends that are also truck drivers have their home here in the park. Since we were going to be sitting for so long we splurged and rented a car for the weekend.

There is not much shade where we are parked but our air conditioner has had no trouble keeping us cool.  Early in the morning Texas and I would go for a walk and even though it is before six am we meet several people on our jaunt.  Everyone knows the importance of enjoying the cool weather in the mornings.

After our walk, I have been sitting at the picnic table working on my cross stitch as I enjoy the cool breeze.  Texas likes laying on the concrete slab greeting people as they go by.  We are following RV park rules and Texas is kept on a leash and we clean up after her.  We purchased an awning that makes great shade in the afternoon when it is so hot.  The wonderful thing about a dry heat is that if in the shade a breeze comes through we are immediately cooled.

As I mentioned we have Facebook friends that live here and we were all invited to their house for a cookout.  There were a few other couples that live here in the park and we all brought side dishes.  What a fun evening and as I sat an contemplated listening to the talk around me I thought to myself, “this is one hell of a way to make a living”.

What a day to wake up early in the morning and go for a walk with Texas, drink coffee and work on my cross stitch at the picnic table, visit with other residents, take a dip in the indoor pool when the weather gets hot, and then enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Right now, the park is very empty as it is not tourist season and it sounds as if there will be no spots available January, February, or in March in any of the RV campgrounds.   It also sounds that if wanting to rent a car the price will double or triple so we will not be doing that either.

As our weekend drew to a close we were all ready to get back to work and look forward to returning to this RV park and the friendly locals.
