Living the Dream
As spring approaches we notice a lot more campers pulling recreational vehicles going down the interstate. Out in the west on a daily basis, we see numerous off-road vehicles being towed going to what we can only imagine is an awesome place to ride or camp. Instead of working or sitting at a truck stop, these people are living the “dream” with their families enjoying a weekend of frivolity.
I have to admit that at times I think about how cool it would be to have a boat, a camper, a jet ski, and an off-road vehicle and spend weekends off having the time of our lives. How great would it be to spend Friday’s loading food, clothing, and whatever else we might need into a camper to spend the weekend having fun and then unloading it all on Sunday night. Next would come Monday and the workweek would begin and I would also have to get done in four days after work what I should have got done over the weekend while I was out having fun. It does not take me long to realize we are living our dream by traveling the country.
My practical side far outweighs my fantasy side and I know we would really not enjoy owning a boat, a camper, a jet ski, or an off-road vehicle. While we enjoy all of those things it is better for us to rent them when wanted than to own them. When we get home we want to be home with family and friends we do not want to be running here or there to get our money’s worth out of a recreational vehicle.
We will continue to live our dream and enjoy seeing the amazing boats and campers others have that are living their dream.
