Homemade Laundry Detergent

When at home about once a year I or even longer I make up a batch of dry laundry detergent that I store in plastic baggies.  Just look at the price of the ingredients, how easy the soap is to make, and how long it lasts. In the recipe below is the core recipe that can be left as is or added to:

Super Washing Soda 3 lb. 7 oz                       3.97

Fels-Naptha Bar Soap 3 bars                          2.91

Borax 4 lbs. 6 oz size                                      4.47

Pure Baking Soda 2 lb.                                    2.12

                                                                        $13.47

I like to add essential oil to the recipe to add scent or you can use Purex Crystals.  Also, if your clothes get really dirty add Oxy Clean or Biz Stain & Odor Eliminator and mix into the core ingredients. Use a 1/8 measuring cup for the soap.  If you do not think your clothes are clean enough use more detergent.  I keep mine in pint-sized freezer ziplock baggies.  Much lighter to carry inside the truck stop to do laundry.

That is all there is to making dry laundry detergent.

The recipe makes three of these bags but I already put one bag of soap in the truck.
