The Weekend Report

Way back when one of my delivery addresses was on this block in downtown Rogers, Arkansas. Problem was that I was trying to preplan a delivery with a 7000 gallon tanker truck. After a half hour of near panic studying satellite maps trying to figure out how I could squeeze into a side alley dock, and calls to headquarters to confirm what they were trying to make me do, we figured out that the address was wrong. In the end, the plant was a regular manufacturing facility outside of town. Yesterday was the first time I had a chance to see the location from ground level, and it brought back fond memories.

AWP (awaiting parts). The engine seals were delayed, so I went back into service to chase freight until the parts arrive.

Lake effect snow. The snow and ice that moved into west Michigan on Thursday was a mess. I picked up north of Muskego, Michigan at close of business. Grand Rapids hadn’t been so bad during the day, but reports coming from along the lake had been bad. There was never a lot of snow, but the blowing snow killed visibility, and no salt on the roads made it hard to even get over overpasses. Most travel speeds were maxed at 35 mph until reaching Indiana.

Gerber Baby Food. I made a delivery of 75 pounds of baby food. It must have been a special delivery. The shipper guy said he’s never had to sign a ‘chain of custody’ form for a shipment. On delivery when receiving lady saw my paperwork, she said she had to make a phone call, because she had been instructed that she wasn’t to even touch this load. The chain of custody ended at an office guy in his personal vehicle who had to drive the three boxes to a town I had driven through ninety minutes before.
