WOW I'm sure they will need to bring on, what, maybe another 100 or so vans and maybe a couple hundred "D" units to handle all this business. Maybe the current drivers will get higher rates, more miles and personal secretarys to handle the extra paperwork..;) ;) ;)

Ok...I guess I can take the time to spell it out in case someone cannot see the implications.

Integres has a customer base that were previously NOT Panther customers, possibly did not even know their freight could get from point a to point b on a Panther truck. Now they are told of and marketed another alternative.

Some Integres customers may decide to keep all their transportation needs within one company base...so now they can negotiate all freight costs with one company...Panther.

Integres did x amount of dollars with Panther in business transactions per year before acquisition....do you think that may possibly increase now?

Growth = Good business....I belive it was Ray Kroc who said "If you are green you are growing...if you are ripe you are rotten." I am very glad to be in a company that is growing and not stagnant.

Being able to see outside traditional expedite routes = good growth plan....having routes and offers out west and out of the "steel belt" appears to mean more steady freight and growth opportunities.

Lets not forget what Mr. Clarke did at, and for, Forward Air.

What is the downside? I guess I see only opportunity.

Yup, i am glad to hear about this too. I have talked to a couple companies out there that say they mostly do expedite loads and wasnt untill i had to pick up a load from the airport for them that there was a company that did such direct service, and alot of time we were able to beat most air charter services especially in pricing. I see nothing but good out of this.

The only down side was when i got the QC message i thought it was that load for me so i can finally go home. :+

All i can say is there will be alot better from this acquisition then they did with con-way from my understanding they wern't ready for taking on trucks and their contracts and stuff. Here nobody has a piolots license... But i may have to work on mine }>

Either the contractors totally missed the boat here, or you're now considered employees. I wouldn't worry about it. He probably just forgot you. ;)

Not sure this will mean more loads for you guys necessarily. Integres is a very different company from Panther. When you see the term "deferred freight" it just means it ain't that critical, so they put it across the US on an LTL truck. This is about Panther diversifying its assets into other freight arenas. They're probably trying to compete with Fedex's Surface Expedite Network.

Kind of like when Fedex bought an LTL line. Or when DHL bought Danzas Air and Ocean, as well as Exel Global. Will it help Panther? For you guys, I hope so. But most likely, its going to help the Board of Directors' wallets first.

One thing is true. Panther ain't just expedite anymore.....

They do some deffered freight, but that isn't their bread and butter.
Probably would get a better idea looking at their site.

I think it will be good for everyone at Panther for quite a few different reasons. Alot of other expediters are using them for business. Not bad if you are now controlling a part of your competitor's business, while at that same time, providing additional opportunities for your own contractors. Don't really see a downside.

Dave,

A very good observation about controlling the competitor's business. I did view their website. It does seem that its message has changed even recently from what it was.

Myself I think this is a good thing for Panther. Afterall, many of the other expedite companies have access to air shipment resources - but now Panther will have a DIRECT connection.
I do not think it will hurt the drivers, if anything it may help to the degree that someone will still have to pick the freight up at the airports and instead of some ABC company doing it - they will now keep it in house and call the cat!

Heard that B-4, getting kind of old. Not sure that UPS is ever going to get off the ground.
Anyway, I think Panther is diversifying assets, but this may bring more work into the mix like FECC surface freight-expedite (whatever).
Certainly doubt it will hurt: if I read this correctly, they will bring in mistake freight that has to be somewhere overnite (no pun intended). We all pull in Yellow, Schneider, etc. freight now.

What some of you are missing is Panthers foot print just got larger. Our Cali freight has been north and south this now gives us freight going east out of Cali which is way cool no more getting stuck on the west coast or having to back haul out of there.
