In an article by Jerome Corsi on World Net Daily, the President wants to now reinstate permission for Mexican trucks to drive across the USA. This would be a flip-flop from his rhetoric during the presidential campaign. You can read the article on World Net Daily[WND].

You are not surprised are you? What ever shipping concerns George Soros has, or any of the other "special interests" that Own Obama has, must have more control over him than the Teamsters. Change? Just another slimely politition. You get what you vote for. Layoutshooter

its not like bush did anything about it. mary peters was his administration who started a program when just authorized to look into what it would take to do such a thing. how many companies with safety violations did her agency allow into the country?

it took an act of congress to stop it after she was told to end it. i guess you also get what you don't vote for also.

partial article

Debbie Mesloh, a spokeswoman for the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, told the Associated Press Obama has asked the office to work with Congress, the DOT, the State Department and Mexican officials to come up with legislation to create "a new trucking
project that will meet the legitimate concerns" of Congress and the U.S. under the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA.
The Obama administration's determination to see Mexican long-haul rigs roll throughout the U.S. is a setback for labor unions, including the Teamsters, who supported Obama in the 2008 presidential election, in part on his promise to renegotiate NAFTA to preserve U.S. jobs.
The sharp policy reversal will also be a blow to many Democrats in Congress, including Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., and Rep. Peter DeFazio, D-Ore., who fought hard for the past two years to stop the project out of concerns that Mexican trucks do not conform with U.S. safety regulations.
After Tuesday's vote in the Senate to pass the funding bill with language ending the truck project, the Mexican government put immediate pressure on the Obama administration to reinstate approval for Mexican trucks to operate throughout the U.S.
"Mexico still believes that the United States' noncompliance on this issue, more than 14 years overdue, is a violation of the North American Free Trade Agreement," Mexican Embassy spokesman Ricardo Alday told the AP.

so instead of throwing rocks at the pres how about voicing your concerns with your people in congress?

here are some ideas:

1.declare that mexican truckers be F-L-U-E-N-T in english.
2.make it known their trucks MUST be safety compliant with DOT. 3.make it known that they MUST be legal in all rules in the USA .
4. mandatory safety inspection at the time of the border crossing.
5. if you do cross border work let your representatives know how this will hurt you financialy.

it would be time to voice your opinion in a useful manner to the parties making the decisions. to hear from the constituency is what democracy is about. to sit and throw rocks is to do nothing.

When did I ever say I agreed with Bush on this? When did I ever say I was a big "fan" of Bush? I think I have always said that we need to get rid of the Dumb-O-Crats AND the
Re-Bum-Licans!! I do, however, trust Obama less than ANYONE in that office in my lifetime. Layoutshooter

Some of you don't see what is really going on?

The teamsters, the UAW and the labor movement in general want to see these trucks rolling down our highways.

Tie this in with the "instant unionization" bill being pushed by labor through congress and what do you think will happen?

They want to get their hands on the people to become members (MONEY) - "you want to run in the US join the union or unionize your company and we can help you make the big American bucks".

Mexico is not devoid of unions, in fact the Teamsters and the UAW have been trying hard to get some places unionize and have been successful to a point. I think it was the ford plant that the Mexican form of the UAW has agreed to concessions with their contracts.

But the "can't fight them, might as well join them" attitude has been the union mindset for a long time. To be exact Chuck Mack, Teamsters Vice President said a few years ago, “If we have cross-border trade, and possibly cross-border trucking, why not cross-border organizing?”

Good point Greg. The entire thing is rather slimey. If anyone out there thinks that big unions are any better than big companies I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. Layoutshooter

That link did not work MSinger. By the way Jack_Berry, we do not live in a democracy, we live in a Republic. I frankly would not wish to live in a democracy, too caotic. Too much like anarchy. Layoutshooter
