Useless Eaters

By John Griffing
American Thinker: Useless Eaters

While Americans worry over government insurance plans, longer waits for treatment, and "healthcare rationing," a more sinister agenda lurks in the shadows of the healthcare bill now before the House of Representatives. Today's Medicare recipients could be the first to experience our government's new solution to America's "useless eaters."

Section 1233 of HR 3200, the healthcare reform measure under consideration, mandates "Advance Care Planning Consultation." Under the proposal, all senior citizens receiving government medical care would be required to undergo these counseling sessions every five years. Further reading of the law reveals that these sessions are nothing more than a not-so-veiled attempt to convince the elderly to forego treatment. HR 3200 calls outright for these compulsory consultations to recommend "palliative care and hospice." These are typically administered in the place of treatment intended to prolong life, and instead focus on pain relief until death. These are, of course, reasonable and beneficial options for terminally ill patients and their families.

But this legislation doesn't stop there. Section 1233 requires "an explanation by the practitioner of the continuum of end-of-life services and supports available, including palliative care and hospice, and benefits for such services and supports that are available under this title." But, under the terms of the section, the federal government can compel more frequent end-of-life sessions if it declares a "significant change" in the health of the Medicare recipient, a change that the bill does not confine to fatal illness, but which encompasses broad and abstract conditions described as "chronic," "progressive," or "life-limiting." The bill even empowers physicians to make an "actionable medical order" to "limit some or all specified interventions..." In effect, the government can determine that a "life-limiting" condition demands the withholding of treatment.

The bill puts the Secretary of Health in charge of life and death decisions coming out of these sessions. Under the heading, "QUALITY REPORTING INITIATIVE," the bill says, "For purposes of reporting data on quality measures for covered professional services furnished during 2011 and any subsequent year, to the extent that measures are available, the Secretary shall include quality measures on end of life care and advanced care planning that have been adopted or endorsed by a consensus-based organization, if appropriate. Such measures shall measure both the creation of and adherence to orders for life-sustaining treatment."

These measures are merely an extension of the healthcare provisions hidden in the stimulus bill, which contained alarming new guidelines that required medical practitioners to judge whether or not treating certain patients was "comparatively effective." These decisions were to be based on the findings of a presidential advisory council on the costs of varying treatments. As a result of these changes, treatment is now a question of "cost" and humans are viewed as potential "liabilities" instead of patients.

Doctors up in arms over these radical changes have been attacked with the worst kind of demagoguery imaginable. Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) lacks any shame, saying that doctors who oppose this legislation have "lost sight of the common good and the pledge they took in the Hippocratic oath." Last time I checked, the Hippocratic oath didn't say anything about refusing to treat patients on the basis of cost. And somehow, whenever the words "common good" are thrown around, individuals are about to be hurt. McDermott even went on to accuse anti-reform doctors of "practicing fear without a license," saying that "they should be subject to a malpractice suit."

President Obama has even been so disingenuous as to accuse Republicans of denying medical treatment to people that need it, saying, "The opponents of health insurance reform would have us do nothing. But think about what doing nothing, in the face of ever increasing costs, will do to you and your family." This is a classic false choice scenario. Either we pass Obama's legislation, or people will die.* In fact, doing nothing is infinitely preferable to doing the wrong thing, especially when we're being pushed to move too quickly.

*no fear politics there like barry accused bush of . added by Chefdennis

It was the same with the stimulus package. And we all know how that turned out: 9.4 percent unemployment and a budget deficit four times larger than when President Bush was in office. Obama has become a master at using false urgency to achieve hidden goals completely unrelated to the issue at hand.

The real concern is not the imaginary people who might die without this legislation, but rather those real people who might die because of it. Never before have we been this close to making federal law that formalizes procedures for limiting the care we will provide to certain categories of citizens.

Never before have we been this close to adopting a system that will tell certain citizens to forego treatment for the good of their country.

Totalitarian regimes approach matters of human worth in this way. But this is America, and our Constitution says that, "No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process."

But if HR 3200 becomes law, "due process" regarding someone's life will become a question for bureaucrats. When all is said and done, the ultimate result of the proposed bill is to transfer to government the unprecedented power of determining who lives and who dies.

Once a government adopts this utilitarian stance toward human life, anything becomes possible. Suspend for a moment your jaded response to Hitler references, and note that in Germany, Order T4 required physicians to kill 70,273 people "judged incurably sick, by critical medical examination"[ii] or those "unworthy of life."[iii] 5,000 of these victims were children. The elderly, the mentally infirmed, the deformed, and the racially impure, were put to death by teams of "medical experts." Thousands were sterilized. By 1939, 360,000 people had been sterilized to prevent the reproduction of the socially "unfit."

Although the methods have grown more subtle and the language more libertarian, our attitudes are not so very different in America today. We casually discuss whether people with certain afflictions merit the costs necessary to keep them alive. Quality of life trumps sanctity of life in most quarters. Dr. Jack Kevorkian's assisted suicide methodology, once unthinkable, is now an acceptable topic for polite conversation.

In America, a rising number of parents abort children on the basis of tests indicating imperfections or disorders, the effective slaughter of the mentally ill. In fact, over 80 percent of fetuses diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted.

Once a nation that cherished the right to life, America is now a nation that cherishes the right to death. 50 million dead unborn children testify to this fact. Prior to the ban in 2003, partial birth abortion-effective infanticide-claimed the lives of 5,000 children every year.

The language of Obama's healthcare reform bill should be a warning to us. This is only the first step in a process that spells death to our way of life. This bill is a test to see what the American people will allow. If you treasure the elderly and the wisdom of previous generations, if you value human worth and care about equality for all Americans, oppose this bill.

Great stuff Chef ..... but one additional piece of data, that "change" and the mindset that accompanies it isn't just an Obama thing:

In fact, the Bush family, from way, way back, has been a proponent of eugenics, euthanasia, and forced sterilization ..... research it and check it out - it's out there.

BTW, here a little reading list of selected material for anyone that wants to inform themselves of the horrors that await:

Obama Has Revived Hitler's Genocide 'Useless Eaters Program'...

Obama Has Revived Hitler's Genocide 'Useless Eaters Program'... | KnowTheLies.com - The Truth is Hidden in Plain View...

In October 1939, Nazi Leader Adolf Hitler issued an order, written in his own hand, ordering the extermination of those who were considered "unworthy of life." The order, entitled "The Destruction of Lives Unworthy of Life," stated that patients "considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of their state of health, be accorded a mercy death".

Hitler's murder spree started with the mentally ill, the terminally ill, invalids, and the disabled, and eventually spread to millions of Jews, Gypsies, and other "undesirables"-worked to death or exterminated in concentration camps.

This monstrous program was initially sold as an economic measure: "The economic burden represented by people suffering from hereditary diseases is a danger for the State and society," Nazi Dr. Gerhard Wagner said at the Nazi party congress in 1934. The Nazis required all state institutions to report on patients who were chronically ill, and used those reports as the basis to decide which patients should be killed.

Today, the Obama Administration is beginning to descend down that same road, promising to make the "tough choices" to cut entitlement programs such as Medicare and Social Security to save money-at precisely the time in which an increasing number of Americans are forced to depend on them as the economy slides deeper into Depression. Obama is willing to spend trillions of dollars to bail out the financial markets, and pay for it by slashing programs which keep ordinary Americans alive.

Think we're exaggerating? Take the case of a paper entitled "What Are the Potential Cost Savings from Legalizing Physician-Assisted Suicide?" It sounds like something that might have been written by Jeremy Bentham, or Aldous Huxley, or maybe Nazi doctor Karl Brandt, but it was actually co-authored in 1998 by "bio-ethicist" Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, a leading advisor to Obama's budget director Peter Orszag, and a member of the 15-person Federal Coordinating Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research, the group which has been designated to prepare the list of which medical procedures will henceforth be permitted, and which will not. Emanuel's co-author, Margaret Battin, has written other papers promoting suicide and selective refusal of medical treatment. The pair are really just echoing Karl Brandt's defense of euthanasia at Nuremberg: "Death can mean deliverance. Death is life-just as much as birth. It was never meant to be murder." But it was.

"The Hitler program has been revived by the Obama Administration," warned Lyndon LaRouche. "This is straight Nazi stuff. It's not a quibble; it's not an interpretation. This is a direct copy of the philosophy of the Nazis. You cannot duck that issue. This is Nazi stuff, and it's explicit. We know all this stuff from Hermann Goering and so forth in the 1920s, and after that with their international connections, like certain Wall Street firms. We have been warned, and we act accordingly. People who condone this are criminals, because they either knew, or should have known, what they are doing. They either knew, or should have known".

"This is mass murder," LaRouche said. "Obama has adopted Hitler's program. There is no reason to hold one's tongue. When the President of the United States has adopted Hitler's program, that's the time to unleash. This is exactly what I warned about on April 11th in my webcast. Obama has a Nero complex. Obama is the new Nero. This is exactly what is happening. This is Hitler's policy now being echoed by Obama. Let's not allow any compromise. You have to attack this directly. He has adopted Hitler's genocidal health policy".

Outlaw the HMOs

One instrumentality of this Nazi policy is the health insurance sector, led by the pharmaceutical companies and the Health Maintenance Organization companies. HMOs, which were started during the Nixon Administration, are the health-care equivalent of an Enron, a vehicle inserting a financial middleman between doctor and patient, for the purposes of jacking up the costs while reducing the quality of health-care delivered. The main role of the HMO sector is to break the control of doctors over health care, and transfer control to corporate cartels.

HMOs make their profits by siphoning off some of the cash flow intended for treatment of patients, and thus reducing the amount of money available for health care. The more they cut the care, the more left for them. But the money is only part of it. The real goal of this health system is to increase the death rate by depriving citizens of proper health care measures. Ultimately, the HMOs are part of the Anglo-Dutch financial empire's genocide machine.

The first step in restoring proper health care in this nation is to repeal the law which allowed HMOs to be created. Only after that, can the solutions be implemented. "Don't accept any discussion or dialogue on Social Security and such issues," LaRouche advised. "First we have to reduce the costly mismanagement of health care by these insurance companies, by eliminating the HMOs. This will eliminate the biggest factor of waste in the health care system. The HMOs just took over and replaced Hill-Burton. There's no way of compromising on that; you have to be absolutely ruthless. The HMO is a parasite; there's no question about it. This is all criminal, and we have to deal with it as a crime.

"Either we get these guys out now, or there's no chance: mass death occurs," LaRouche continued. "That's what happened with Hitler. There were Jewish communities that also said: 'Look, don't fight it; it will go away.' It's the same thing today".

That view also applies to the menagerie of fascist "behavioral economists" surrounding Obama, LaRouche said. "These guys have to go. Because either these guys are going to go, or the President is going to go. And the President has to think through that choice, because the American people are not going to put up with this crap. These guys are going to find that the American people are going to say to the President: 'You get rid of these guys, or we get rid of you'".

Imperial Fascism

This open push for Nazi-style fascism should not be a surprise, since the Nazis and the other fascist movements of the 1920s and 1930s were created by the financiers of the Anglo-Dutch Liberal empire for the express purpose of breaking the power of the nation-states, and taking the world back to a modernized variation of medieval feudalism. Though the fascist movements suffered defeat in World War II (thanks largely to FDR and America's industrial might), the financier interests behind Hitler and Mussolini remain, and, as the current bailout travesty shows, they still hold enormous power.

Under Obama, just as under Bush, the government is spending huge amounts of money to try to save the values of the fictitious assets which dominate the global financial system. So far, some $13 trillion has been given, lent, promised, or guaranteed, in what has been repeatedly shown to be an open-ended process. Despite the Federal government's budget deficit, the money keeps on flowing, ever faster.

When it comes to the welfare of the population, however, the tune changes dramatically, to "cut, cut, cut." We're going to have to slash Social Security, slash Medicare, slash all sorts of other spending to bring our budget under control, we are told. Money for the bailout, money for the wars, but nothing for the people-who are the nation.

This is pure fascism. We are headed down the road to Hell, led by a Pied Piper of a President who, whatever he may think, will destroy us all unless we force him to change course.

Google Ezekial Emanuel...(the brother of the president's chief of staff)....and read what this guy has to say about useless eaters....and dementia...

You have to wonder what kind of tactics (strong arm?) would be used during these "sessions" to bring about the ultimate desired result.

Think about how the elderly are preyed upon for sales of "everything senior". I recall a story from my Mom about some salesman (can't remember the product now) that would not leave the home after being told repeatedly that they would not purchase his product. This was after my Dad was too frail to be the regular hell raiser that he had been in his earlier years and both of them intimidated enough to not pick up the phone and call for help.

The point I'm trying to make is this: if this health care bill goes through, as we know it eventually will, and the clauses like the ones quoted here are included, what is to keep the government from "pressuring" the doctors involved to bring more and more seniors around to "their" way of thinking!

Couldn't the same tactics used with the banks that helped to create the housing bust that so damaged the economy be used to "bring these old folks around"? And who will complain, who will report the abuses? Will we be compelled to take our lawyers with us to the doctor to ensure that we won't be coerced into agreeing to something that isn't in our best interests?

Some may say that these thoughts are "out there", but if you follow the thing to it's logical conclusion, the possibilities are endless. Which one of us here wants our elderly parents (or even ourselves) subjected to this?

You guys have a lot to learn about Fascism and the players of our new world.

Study the past and you can just change the names of the people writing the articles and books and it is all the same.

"He became sick and died....here is the ashes of his remains"

"but he was only 36 years old and had been in an accident two years ago..... He just entered the hospital for tests that his doctor said he needed.....how did he get sick?"

"We can't answer that ma'am, all we do is deliver the remains and we have a full days worth of work"

"but.... he wanted to be buried with a service...."

"Sorry, we can't take in the account of the wishes of the sick, we cremate everyone"

United States
Main article: Conservatism in the United States

Conservatism in the United States includes a variety of political ideologies including fiscal conservatism, supply-side economics, social conservatism, libertarian conservatism, bioconservatism and religious conservatism, as well as support for a strong military. Modern American conservatism was largely born out of alliance between classical liberals and social conservatives in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Contemporary American conservatism traces its heritage back to Irish political philosopher Edmund Burke, who developed his views in response to the French Revolution. US President Abraham Lincoln wrote, that conservatism is "the adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried." US president Ronald Reagan, who was a self-declared conservative, is widely seen as a symbol of American conservatism In an interview, he said "I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism." Organizations in the US committed to promoting conservative ideology include the American Conservative Union, Eagle Forum, Heritage Foundation and the Hoover Institution. US-based media outlets that are conservative include Human Events, National Review, The American Conservative, Policy Review, The Weekly Standard. and The Fox News Channel

In the US, social conservatives emphasize traditional views of social units such as the family, church, or locale. Social conservatism may entail defining marriage as relationships between one man and one woman (thereby prohibiting same-sex marriage and polygamy) and laws placing restrictions on the practice of abortion. While many religious conservatives believe that government should have a role in defending moral values, libertarian conservatives such as Barry Goldwater advocated a hands-off government where social values were concerned.

From the article posted by OVM:

Barry Goldwater was a true Conservative before Reagan thought about running for office....those in government today that call themselves Conservative don't make a patch on Mr. Goldwaters underwear...and it is also too bad he shares his 1st name with what currently occupies the WH....
