What a strange name being commented on by a person going by the name of TURTLE!!! I bet every one on here got several opinions from everyone they knew and strangers before they named their children.

Maybe Levi and Bristol are fans of Tripp Eisenhower, a pro golfer who gained fame earlier in the year by killing a hawk with a shot from a nine iron - talk about accuracy!

If this had been the name for the child of some liberal icon like Tina Fey, the media would be describing it as "dashing" or "cool" instead of unusual. Why don't they leave these kids alone?!

Tripp is actually a good solid name out here in the west...I have nephews of Trig and Taz(brothers)
....more nephews of Cass, Cade and Cody all brothers.

Those popular names in the east are considered too :censoredsign:gy unmanly for the wild west..!

I first thought of hockey equipment when I read Easton Mitchell.

I am considering naming my next kid- Kenworth Detroit Fuller Alcoa. :D

Some couple on the Today Show about a year back had named their kid "ESPEN". I think that was how it was spelled. The old man watched a lot of ESPN tv. The sad part was that Mom agreed with him about the name.

Three or four years ago, whenever it was that ESPN had that big 25th anniversary, they did a piece on now many kids were named ESPN. Some were ESPEN, some were ESPIN, some were even just ESPN. I think one was ESPY. It was a hoot. Last report I saw said that ESPN knew of at least 22 kids named one flavor or another of ESPN.

There's ESPN Montana Real of D'Iberville, MS, Espn Malachi McCall in Pampa, TX, Espn Curiel in Corpus Christi, and Espn Blondeel in Michigan.

From A BBC story (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/3268161.stm):
Psychology professor Cleveland Evans, a professor at Bellevue University, Nebraska, has studied baby names in the US for 25 years. After surveying US social security records for 2000, he discovered the trend of popular culture invading baby names. He does point out that, "It is no different from the 19th century when parents named their children Ruby or Opal... it reflects their aspirations."

He has found that car models are a popular source of inspiration; 22 girls are registered as having the name Infiniti while 55 boys answer to Chevy and five girls to Celica.
Seven boys were found to have the name Del Monte - after the food company - and no less than 49 boys were called Canon, after the camera.

Designer firms and types of clothing were also well represented, with almost 300 girls recorded with the name Armani, six boys called Timberland and seven boys called Denim. In some cases it seems something else was on some parents' minds - six boys were named after Courvoisier cognac.

Reminds me a little of Shirley Q

But only one boy named Edsel.
