The Trump Card...

  • Numerous major corporations, including major Wall Street firms, have suspended political donations to Trump and all other political entities.
  • Some others are more specific. Citicorp, Marriott and others are halting donations to Republican legislators who voted against certifying the Electoral College vote.
  • Deuetsche Bank, one of the few remaining banks that was willing to lend money to Trump after his many defaults, said it will stop doing business with Trump.
  • Signature Bank, a bank on whose board Ivanka Trump once served, has closed Trump's personal accounts.
  • Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Reddit and others have shut down or restricted Trump's and Trump supporters' ability to communicate.
  • Amazon, Google and Apple have obliterated Parler.
  • The PGA pulled its prestigious tournament from a Trump golf course.
  • Shopify has stopped supporting Trump's online campaign store.
  • GoFundMe has banned Trump supporters from using that platform for fundraising.
  • Stripe, a credit card processing company, has stopped processing payments for the Trump campaign website.

There are more. I've never seen anything like this. Virtually all of these private-sector actions were taken in response to the events of Jan. 6. All of these companies were fine serving Trump and his supporters before then. As I said, Jan 6 is a day of profound historical significance.
Update: The Trump Organization has now lost one of its key property managers.

On Wednesday, global real estate services firm Cushman & Wakefield (CWK) said it "has made the decision to no longer do business with The Trump Organization," according to a company spokesperson.
Over the years, the Cushman has handled several office and retail properties for the Trump Organization including New York City's Trump Tower, Trump Plaza, the Trump Building at 40 Wall Street and the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.
(Source)

I do not know if CWK is terminating its contracts immediately or will simply not renew them when that time comes.

This is not difficult. Nobody wants to take a hit financially. So they won't stand on principle. It's not worth it.

Some companies are specifically standing on principle. They are announcing they are cutting ties with Trump because of his lies about the election and insurrection actions. Some others are acting in their economic self-interest. An example of that is in this story. A company dropped the Trump name because it became a business liability.

While New York City is not a company, it too has joined those cutting business ties with Trump because of the insurrection. The contracts Trump had to run certain concessions in the city are being terminated.

But Trump didn't cause the intersection.
Where is the evidence?

Welcome News!

EXCLUSIVE: President Trump on Wednesday is calling for "all Americans" to help "ease tensions and calm tempers," saying he does "not" stand for violence "of any kind" -- and he's asking Big Tech to join the effort.

"In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind," the president said in a statement to Fox News. "That is not what I stand for and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You."

That's a question that will be answered in the Senate trial, and likely in other trials if Trump is charged with crimes in connection with the insurrection.

There is the political backlash (impeachment), business backlash (banks and other businesses cutting Trump off), social media backlash (Twitter, Facebook, others cutting Trump off), and now this. A big Trump donor figured out he has been conned by the election-fraud lie and is suing to get his money back. Watch for more of that to come.

He called for peaceful protests a week ago. Nothing new.

Evidence is presented at trial. The charge is in the impeachment article which can be read here:

RESOLUTION

Impeaching Donald John Trump, President of the United States, for high
crimes and misdemeanors.

Resolved, That Donald John Trump, President of the United States,
is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors and that the following
article of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate:

Article of impeachment exhibited by the House of Representatives
of the United States of America in the name of itself and of the people
of the United States of America, against Donald John Trump, President
of the United States of America, in maintenance and support of its
impeachment against him for high crimes and misdemeanors.

article i: incitement of insurrection

The Constitution provides that the House of Representatives ``shall
have the sole Power of Impeachment'' and that the President ``shall be
removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason,
Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors''. Further, section 3 of
the 14th Amendment to the Constitution prohibits any person who has
``engaged in insurrection or rebellion against'' the United States from
``hold[ing] any office . . . under the United States''. In his conduct
while President of the United States--and in violation of his
constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of President of
the United States and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect,
and defend the Constitution of the United States, and in violation of
his constitutional duty to take care that the laws be faithfully
executed--Donald John Trump engaged in high Crimes and Misdemeanors by
inciting violence against the Government of the United States, in that:

On January 6, 2021, pursuant to the 12th Amendment to the
Constitution of the United States, the Vice President of the United
States, the House of Representatives, and the Senate met at the United
States Capitol for a Joint Session of Congress to count the votes of
the Electoral College. In the months preceding the Joint Session,
President Trump repeatedly issued false statements asserting that the
Presidential election results were the product of widespread fraud and
should not be accepted by the American people or certified by State or
Federal officials. Shortly before the Joint Session commenced,
President Trump, addressed a crowd at the Ellipse in Washington, DC.
There, he reiterated false claims that ``we won this election, and we
won it by a landslide''. He also willfully made statements that, in
context, encouraged--and foreseeably resulted in--lawless action at the
Capitol, such as: ``if you don't fight like hell you're not going to
have a country anymore''. Thus incited by President Trump, members of
the crowd he had addressed, in an attempt to, among other objectives,
interfere with the Joint Session's solemn constitutional duty to
certify the results of the 2020 Presidential election, unlawfully
breached and vandalized the Capitol, injured and killed law enforcement
personnel, menaced Members of Congress, the Vice President, and
Congressional personnel, and engaged in other violent, deadly,
destructive, and seditious acts.

President Trump's conduct on January 6, 2021, followed his prior
efforts to subvert and obstruct the certification of the results of the
2020 Presidential election. Those prior efforts included a phone call
on January 2, 2021, during which President Trump urged the secretary of
state of Georgia, Brad Raffensperger, to ``find'' enough votes to
overturn the Georgia Presidential election results and threatened
Secretary Raffensperger if he failed to do so.

In all this, President Trump gravely endangered the security of the
United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the
integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful
transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He
thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the
people of the United States.

Wherefore, Donald John Trump, by such conduct, has demonstrated
that he will remain a threat to national security, democracy, and the
Constitution if allowed to remain in office, and has acted in a manner
grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law. Donald
John Trump thus warrants impeachment and trial, removal from office,
and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust, or
profit under the United States.

But it is also fair, is it not, to acknowledge that a bonafide conservative like Liz Cheney is willing to impeach Trump for the high crimes he is said to have committed?
Sure it's fair. But I think it's better to give a fuller context. The impression you gave of Liz Cheney is that she's a hardcore conservative Republican. She's really not. The bills she has sponsored and co-sponsored certain lean ideologically to the right, but her voting record is MOR or left. She's been consistent in voting against legislation Trump has championed, though. She voted against 3 different anti-illegal immigration bills, not because she's pro-illegal immigration, but because she didn't want Trump to get the win.
It's not all about left or right, or pro-Trump or anti-Trump. It's about the law and constitution too.
Oh, puhleze. There's nothing about this impeachment that aligns with the Constitution. Due process? Nope. The only evidence presented in the impeachment debate was people's interpretations of what Trump said. Not what he actually said, but rather third party interpretations. There was no effort at fact-finding at all. News reports and bare accusations were accepted as fact.

You don't tell a judge in a trial, "We're not gonna present evidence, discuss facts, have witnesses, or even deal with a jury. None of that nonsense. We're gonna go around all that because this is really, really important."

Here's a statement made by an actual member of the House....

"Much more will become clear in the coming days and weeks, but what we know now is enough."

That's not really a comment you want to hear in lieu of getting to the truth before judgment.

Who made that ridiculous statement? Liz Cheney.

As I listened to this Trump speech on my way home from work tonight, I felt a sense of relief and I was inclined to praise Trump for what I thought was an effective message that will likely take some of the steam out of those who are stirring the pot for violent protests or attacks at state capitols and the U.S. Capitol. This speech will save some lives, I thought.

When I got home and turned on the cable shows, I was disappointed to see many commentators ignore the speech completely or decry it as too little too late. While I understand where they are coming from (Trump did not in this speech apologize, admit error, take responsibility, show remorse over past events, etc.), this is one of the most important speeches Trump has ever given at one of the most important times in our nation's history.

It is never too little to take a step in the direction of peace. It is never to late to do the right thing. This speech should not be diminished. It should be broadcast by all to help Trump get this important message out.

The difference may have something to do with the two principals involved. One is the Portland mayor Ted Wheeler. The other is the President of the U.S.

Recently, Wheeler’s office issued a news release noting he had met with “leaders of local, state and federal law enforcement agencies” but that the “criminal tactics Portland and other cities are confronting are new. Creating workable, effective solutions requires thoughtful and constructive collaboration across multiple agencies and stakeholders.“ (Source)

Trump said in his video yesterday (posted above), "Those who engaged in the attacks last week will be brought to justice."

It seems Trump's Justice Department is more determined to act on Trump's clear instructions than law enforcement in Portland is determined to act on their mayor's muddled instructions. Wheeler seems to be operating under some notion of community building or deescalation with people who are willing to attack government buildings, other buildings, police and other people. Trump's approach is demonstrably different as we see U.S. Capitol invaders hunted down and charged.

Another difference may be Mitch McConnell's and Nancy Pelosi's personal experiences. Both saw their sacred chambers invaded. Both literally ran for their lives as the insurrection unfolded. Both saw their homes -- their homes! -- vandalized a week or so before the insurrection. Among the people in power in the U.S. Capitol, there is little sentiment to go easy on the perpetrators.

One reason he isn't going is because they don't want him there anyway. He challenged the election in court, which was his right to do. He also has conceded. The Left are mostly progressives, yet have very little to do with progress. They undermined his Presidency every step of the way. If you can't see that, I can't help you.

Boy, listen to the pot calling the kettle black after what the righties did to Obama.

Lindsey Graham, who is one of Trumps biggest supporters in the senate took his turn after the disruption and proved what we all know, there wasnt enough fraud to change the election results.

I believe this time when the senate votes on impeachment, there will be a conviction. I was talking to someone the other day and they were saying that Trump reminds them of a cult leader, had to think about that one for a few and you know what, its true, all the lies he has told and all the people who believe it just because he said it.

No where near the same amount and with all the apparatus the Left had. Not even close. Are you willing today least be honest enough to admit that the Left undermined his Presidency from day 1? Yes or no?
