Semi hits van 2 dead.

I'm not sure what experience in driving vans, straights and t/t has to do with you obviously having very little experience with reading and posting in Web forums. But OK, I'll spare you.
You never pull onto the shoulder. People think the shoulder of the road is a darn picnic/rest area. I have seen Recreational Vehicles stopped on the side of the road with picnic chairs out lol. I try not to use the shoulder for anything other than emergencies.

There are too many unknowns. People in cars and vans drive horrible, and people in big trucks tailgate and try to intimidate you off the road. I see both happen regularly so who knows what happened. Also, I don't know how much worth is I give witnesses saying a truck is weaving. If the wind is pushing you around, it can appear you are weaving. Then again, he could have been.
Steeler fan and a Turtle fan....some combination....LOL

What happens if a fully competent driver had been driving that van with 10 people in it.
A tire started going down or it stalled ?
A professional semi driver should have avoided that van. Get the big picture. Leave yourself an out.
Probably things done wrong by all parties, This could be a case where the semi takes more than 50% of the blame.

just try to do 55 mph..the legal speed limit on 294 in Chicago....99% of them tractors will be on your tailbone......

I came close to hitting a van in Vandalia Ohio on the Interstate.
10am Mon morning.
Middle lane,heavy traffic, probably doing speed limit.
I believe two occupants were fighting and one slammed the trans into park.
Dead stop in front off me. I had doubles. I slammed on the breaks,autoshift trans,and believe I closed my eyes,expecting debris.
When I stopped I had a foot to spare. I set the parks and yelled at the driver to move if he could before I got hit.
He put it in gear and was able to pull away. With traffic wizzing by I was able to get in my truck and pull away.
Great lesson on space management.
One of my Father's gas tankers left the highway at the 80/394 split and avoided a very old lady that stopped on the hwy to read the signs !

I think most of us have our stories/experiences...i think its about a 50/50 shot between big and small....no one has a lock on stupid....

Glad I try to out guess the other guy.
I want to retire in a few years. I hope to be healthy enough to maybe buy a new scooter and wear it out.

There's never an oak stake when you really need one. Come to think of it, I wonder if oak stakes work on necroposts.

When I see them on the side of the road, they are normally broke down and they bring the chairs out to be away from the vehicle just in case someone runs into the vehicle.

Several carriers will drop your lease and or fire you if you sleep on the on or off ramp or stopping on the shoulder. Landstar used to have that policy, don't know if they still do. Actually a good policy.
Blizzard said there were 2 48 inch skids, not four skids that were stuffed into his van. Where did you read that there were four skids in his van into his comment?
