I too watched it again a few weeks ago....it is a good reminder.
Maybe "my" America, not today's.
"your" America has long been gone..about 100 years now? It'll never be the same never....not ever.
Today's America is far more like Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia than what I believe it should be. I am ashamed of what we are becoming. That movie should be shown every day.
I have never seen the movie in its entirety, only brief parts.
So will "Abbott and Costello Meet The Mummy".
I can think of a few. As you mentioned, Nazis. A few others: Fascists, racists, Aryans, anti-Semites and New World Order. Oops that's 3 words, sorry.
Multiple words: White supremacists, master race and fückien nuts.
I have a friend and former neighbor who's last name is Shilder. I'm on his list, but it is mostly for canoe trips and backyard parties.

I am sorry..But the idea of the people ruling the government while idealistic and fanciful, great in concept..But like concept cars very seldom come to pass..history shows it just doesn't work...
People put in charge rule other people...it is human nature...
vote them out and new rulers emerge..the natural tendencies of humans in general.

Even though new rulers emerge, the entire system still works.
We don't elect people for life, there are sometimes shining moments that other forms of government never will ever see outside of a revolution and the biggest thing is the people are still in power - yes it is still true.
Take most of the other forms of governments, the people have less of a voice in any part of their history than we have right now. Like EU member countries who are having a serious issues with with the forced desegregation of people and limiting freedoms through uniformed laws across cultural lines. The EU member citizen doesn't have the rights we do, they can't control their government and it seems that even though they criticize us, our simple system seems to still work.

It could work..but it takes a lot of diligence from the people to stay tuned in to what is happening...it looks now the people were asleep at the wheel...and taking control back is going to be a long road....
