Question Regarding Whirlwind Express

So what will happen with the money that Ann Hannah the owner own us? We have a contract with Whirlwind Express . Probably we will take her to the court.

If you have 30 years experience and never get burned you may give us an idea how to collect the money from Whirlwind...

Mike, it is not my place to address this on the open forum but didn't want to leave it.

'''WW has done a great job building a system that is efficient from a back office standpoint. That has allowed them to pay drivers better rates and it is too bad the financial issues caused the problems that they did. We plan on leveraging the strengths that they have with ours so that we can take Farm2Fleet to the next level.''''

WW has done a ''great job'' not paying their contractors....It is not that they stooped paying they lying to you every time when you call for your money . Shame Ann, shame Whirlwind. And she is a proud member of Teana.....

Do you have a problem to discuss issues on 'the open forum''?You don't have to hide anything here....You know ,I know, Ann did some bad things....

I don't have collections experience.
Never had to go after my money.
I've always done the single carrier model. No loads where I've dealt with brokers.
There are little "warts" with being leased to one carrier.
Stay with quality carriers, get paid every week, and you'll do ok.
The advantages of the one carrier system far outweigh the disadvantages.

From1971-1977 I worked in my Father's trucking business.
Mostly contract carrier stuff. And mail contracts. We had minor collection issues. Never to the point that we couldn't pay our people.
And if you didn't pay we just found other freight to haul.

What we did so far we involved OOIDA in this. Next step court.

Good luck.
Hopefully F2F assumed the liabilities and will cut everyone checks soon.
It'd be good business.
Paying your people is always good for business.

I'm in my 36th year of trucking.
Never had to wait on my money. Never paid a percentage to get it early.
Looking at you youngins and your new fangled ideas makes me sick.
No wonder so many struggle.

The way I see it that extra 3% is a great return annually with very little effort.

Wait,I may have it wrong.

If you do a $1000 load do they pay you $1030 if you wait until they get paid ?
Or,$979 if you want prompt payment.

With the first option, how long do you wait ?

I wouldn't want to wait on $10,000 to earn $30.

If waiting, what happens if they don't get paid ?

If WW went under, you'd be pizzed that you left that $10,000 on the table hoping to make another $30.

I want my money, and I WANT IT NOW !

Make that $300.00

Still not leaving my money with a carrier while I may be getting in deeper.

First, this is not an option that we are offering anymore. All new contracts are weekly pay. Period.

But financially, if you look at rolling the money every 30-days that is 36% APR. The initial thought around this was that we where helping our drivers that had an interest in doing so move towards a path of independence. And when you are independent you will more than likely wait on your money. So you have to plan and have the finances to cover you expenses when you are not running for a carrier. As I posted earlier, I am very focused on the drivers of Farm2Fleet and if they are willing to share in the risk I am willing to compensate them for that.

And so that I am clear, it was an option not a requirement.

Bill,what you wrote sounds good.

Then I thought if you're willing to pay 36% to hold the money I'd be scared.

Hope you pay 36% APR to anyone waiting for their money.

Good luck in the future.

What I don't understand is why would anyone leased to a company that gets behind in paying the driver/owner-operator/fleet owner stay with them to begin with?

If John got behind...would you stay?.....at least for awhile to see if things get straightened out?

John may be a great guy. I probably wouldn't stay.
In a small operation I may if I knew the people and the reasoning was sound.
In a big company i'd leave. Somethings wrong. Sometimes bad things are happening that will never right themselves. By the time you find out it'll be too late.
If John righted the ship, I'd return.
He's not going down with my money.
My money belongs in my control.

OVM. I imagine you'd stay.
How long cannot be answered in dollars.
You might be able to laugh off $5000.
That amount may cause others to lose their homes.

to be honest the way things are it would take about a month to get to 5,000$ LOL

Remember John is NOT a virtual carrier as non asset company...Load 1 has 2 other companies and hard physical assets to go after if need be...

If John said to me...give 2-3 weeks to turn things around I'd take a vacation right then a there...better to take a few weeks off then jumpship prematurely....sometimes things happen in big business we are not privy to...

There's a flaw in your theory about assets.
If things go south, the assets will be gone before you go after them. Sold, transferred,or taken by a financial institution.
