Pilot in Lodi

Words cannot even describe how I feel right now about the night manager working tonight 05/07/10 at Pilot in Lodi, Ohio. My daughter was in the middle of damaging winds and a tornado warning shown to be coming right through Lodi on I-76 headed towards Seville where we live. My daughter and several others had stopped in at Pilot to take cover and find out where the storm was and where it was headed. Sirens were going off near my house and I was in the basement. The cashier was very nice giving everyone updates on where the storm was. Then, the lovely night manager came out in the middle of a tornado warning seen in the area and violent winds and said " I need everyone out of here because our transactions are down, I can't have everyone in here!" Well, the people left, my daughter stopped at the cashier on her way out and asked could you at least tell me where the storm is and where it is headed now? And the girl started to answer her and the night manager interuppted and said " I wouldn't know I'm at work!".. This is NOT RIGHT! My husband and I own a fleet of trucks and I will NEVER again let my trucks grace the likes of PILOT TRUCKSTOP in Lodi. I will be sure to also call the corporate office.. kicking people out in the middle of a tornado.. She has got to the the stupidest... sorry.. just venting...

Make a big stink with Pilot Corporate. Ask them if they are in the habit of turning away customers seeking shelter and then ask them where would be a better place to be in very high winds, in a building where there is a better chance of survival or in a car/van/truck?

I would have told the manager to escort me out to my truck because I won't be leaving for any reason.

Thanks Greg.. I do have an email in to Pilot Corporate.. and My husband is calling them also. This lady obviously hasn't had much training in human compassion.. I am so furious..

She may also have no clue what the company policy is.

Last year I was at one Indiana location where they lost its computer connections for the point of sale equipment so they had two people adding, figuring out the tax and writing receipts out while the manager and assistant manager were on the phone doing manual credit card/comcheck charges. They busted their a** to get things done.

lot better places then a Pilot to be in a little blow up...too much glass and shabbily built...you were probably safer outside..

use you pilot card and e-mail them make sure to tell them you don't buy as much fuel at pilots across the country as the big trucking companys do but if your little bit goes to someone else were will they be

The rest of the story.... I have not heard anything from Pilot Corp. as of tonight. I doubt I will. Thanks everyone for your comments.. I was just really very frustrated with that woman's actions that evening..

Big difference. The Love's in Oklahoma City not only took in people as a MAJOR tornado was on it's way, the staff under direction of THAT store manager, put the customers and employees into the coolers, bathrooms and showers to provide as much protection for them as they could.

The Love's store was destroyed but there were only a few minor injuries. Love's says they will rebuild as soon as they can. This is how it should be. Not everyone is rotten.

Link to story below. It seems that the same kind of quick thinking went on across the street at a Sonic store as well.

I saw the Love's on the local news, there was nothing left of the building. The manager and workers saved many lives that day.
