I contend that Murtha is a traitor as much as McCain is but here is some thing else.

Nancy Pelosi may have miscalculated just a bit by throwing her support behind John Murtha. Not everybody on the Left is happy with her choice for the next Democrats' House Majority Leader. A Washington group backed by George Soros is blasting Murtha, calling him one of the 20 most corrupt members of Congress. And then there's that naughty little event Murtha was involved in a long time ago called Abscam.

Remember that?

So what has Murtha done to irritate so many on his side of the aisle? Well, it turns out there are many things. The one that has him tagged with the title of one of the most corrupt members of congress involves payouts to former staffers and his brother, a registered lobbyist. The scandal goes something like this.

John Murtha is on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee. His brother is a lobbyist for several companies that have business with the government. In 2004, a $417 billion defense bill was passed that went through John Murtha's committee, and you can guess what happened next. It turns out that bill benefited at least 10 companies represented by Murtha's brother. At a minimum it is a violation of House ethics rules and at a maximum is outright political corruption. But John Murtha is no stranger to political corruption.

Remember the Abscam case? This was the 1980 corruption case where the FBI took down a U.S. Senator, 6 members of the House and the mayor of Camden, New Jersey, among others. Turns out John Murtha made an appearance on that famous surveillance tape. When offered a $50,000 bribe, Murtha said "I'm not interested...at this point." At this point? Perhaps he was going to be interested....just not yet. Somehow, Murtha got a pass.

So not only is John Murtha Congressman Cut And Run, he's also just a wee bit scandal-prone. Good choice, Speaker Nancy!

But that's not all.

Nancy Pelosi will also pass over Jane Harman for the chairmanship of the House Intelligence Committee. Harman, a California Democrat, is accepted as the Democrat's most knowledgeable member of the House on Security and Intelligence issues. There's a problem though. Harman supports the war on Islamic Fascism. Pelosi wants the House Intelligence Committee to be chaired by someone who doesn't support that war. Make sense to you?

We all saw this sort of thing coming. Unfortunately, we may be seing it for a few years unless people wake up.

Within a year, the centrists will be fighting with the leftists and we'll have a good ol' fashion barfight. I doubt the more conservative Dems won't let this Move-on group to tell them how to vote. We'll see what happens.

You guys sure like to call people names.

I haven't heard anyone call Chaney a draft dodger. Nobody has called the "Great Decider" any names.

Face it. We live in a country of the people, by the people, and for the people. Those people have spoken. Live with it.

How is Cheny a draft dodger? I mean clinton used BS to get out of the draft with some general or something like that.

According to Chaney he had different priorities than serving in the military.

That's as much BS as Clinton.

"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it's a democracy, a facist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denouce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger"
