Obama: GOP Drove The Country Into A Ditch. 'Now They Want The Keys Back'

Our President still speaking the truth.

The ReBumLiCans did NOT put us in the ditch, the Dumb-O-Crats did not put us in and are NOT getting us out!! Both parties are guilty of this, they did it together for their own power and gain. Our president is a Chicago machine politician, a Dumb-O-Crat, and hardly honest. He fits right in with the scum in congress. It is a real shame that so many are tied to the "PARTY". That is the REAL reason we are in this mess. We keep reelecting the same scum every election. WE are to blame, WE allow them to get away with it. The very idea that WE should be controlled by 537 people is absurd and the opposite of what our Constitution says. The Constitution gives the ultimate power to the PEOPLE, including control OVER the government. It was never meant to be the other way around, as it is now.

Joe...correct...WE the people got us to this point..WE the people are the only ones to get us out...

Thank you. The government is not capable of acting in a responsible manner. They have proven that year in and year out. It is up to us to boot them out, take back our rightful control over them, and set things back the way they were intended to be. If we don't do this, we are going to be ruled. Freedom will no longer be. That control of the People is the goal of most in government today. That is an evil goal.

It's easy for this smug pr*ck stand before a friendly audience and make jokes like this in a venue where his statements go unchallenged. The problem is, this guy IS a joke - and most of the voters have come to realize this. Granted, the Bush administration and a willing congress spent way too much money during their time in office.

But let's not forget the core issue that caused this recession - the financial collapse that conveniently happened at the best possible time for democrats during an election year. It's been well documented that the cause of the collapse was the irresponsible and reckless lending practices being conducted by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and other financial institutions that were loaning money to people who couldn't repay it. Remember also that it was the GOP who tried to bring up more regulation of these institutions, only to be shot down by democrats such as Barney Frank, Maxine Waters, Chris Dodd who went on record to say that Fannie and Freddie were in great shape and Franklin Raines (head of Fannie) was doing a wonderful job. Their shabby lending practices actually started during the Clinton administration when it was decided that everyone should have a house regardless of their ability to afford one.

At the present time it appears that the economy has come out of the ditch - barely. But there is still damage to the wheels and engine, and the new driver is the equivalent to an 8 year-old brat who has been in a car seat all his life. Unemployment is still at 10% and the underemployed/not- looking-anymore percentage of the workforce is more like 15%. We won't see a real recovery until that figure gets closer to 6%. Remember - traditional "full employment" is 5.5%.

The brat behind the wheel also wants to steer the car in a different direction; he wants to drive it to the nearest salvage yard, scrap it and put everyone on economic public transportation - the streetcar named Socialism. As he heads toward the scrap yard, Harry the butler and Nancy the nanny ride along in the back seat. They've been given the family piggy bank, have broken it and have thrown the money out the windows to "spread it around". Since the money's gone they're now using the credit cards and have run up a balance higher than all the previous drivers combined - and it's only taken them a little over a year!

Fortunately, the car probably won't make it to the scrap yard - chances are it will break down again. The financial engine won't run on snake oil and the tires of employment won't roll until they're at a full level again. The family of voters will have to send somebody to fix it and find another driver - hopefully an adult this time. We can only hope the family will throw the car's current occupants out on the street and will be able to repeal some of the junk that's been charged to the credit cards. The unfortunate reality is that the balances on the cards will be passed on to the family children, so it will be up to them to deal with the financial excesses of their parents.

Right now my mind's eye envisions a scene from something like a Little Rascals movie - a Model T weaving down the road with Buckwheat behind the wheel, Laurel and Hardy in the back seat and the Keystone Cops (GOP) frantically chasing them. We can only hope there's a real hero behind them somewhere unseen, but closing ground fast enough to save the old car before it's crashed and totalled.

Just sayin what? That is the only thing out computers will be good for unless Obama and Co. get off their collective dead butts and start hardening our electrical grid against the coming EMP attack that they are ignoring?

I don't think EMP hardening our power grid will help much if at all, it seems that we can live without electricity more than we can live without data. Amazing how our technology will return us back to the stone age in a matter of minutes.

The death toll from an EMP attack will be staggering. No water systems, no sewage, no food distribution etc. Data is the least of the worries. Some estimates I have read talk about 100 million dead in the first six months. North Korea and Iran, with the help of the Soviets and Red China, have been testing and planning for this. They may now have the ability to pull it off or will have in the very near future. They have the delivery systems, they only lack a better warhead. That is coming soon. They don't need many either, two, about half of those used in WWII will do the trick.

The grid can be hardened. They do know how. They have known that since the mid '60's. Nothing has been done. Obama's plan for his so called "Smart Grid" makes our grid even more open to damage than it is now.

Stone age is correct.
