From what is on Fox news they found a car,or Van with bomb equiptment inside. They have evacuated everyone out as what the news is saying. don't know much more than that.
Yep. The police have cordoned off an area surrounding a Nissan Pathfinder containing black powder, propane tanks, etc. The Nissan has stolen plates which belong to a Ford vehicle. Lots of speculation in these early reports. I am watching this on TV at home. Anyone with XM radio could follow this on FoxNews(XM 121) or MSNBC(XM120).
We got lucky again. An alert vendor helped avert what could have been an act of terrorism. The car bomb failed to explode. Will the relative ease of placing a car bomb in the center of NYC inspire copycats with murderous intent?
It is a very worrisome possibility. God forbid a terrorist succeeds placing a suitcase bomb, radiologic or otherwise, in one of our population centers. The police state crackdown would be all consuming.
I don't like relying on luck. It seems Homeland Security has an abysmal record in stopping the lone-wolf operator. Eventually, some nut will succeed where others fell short. Then, the emotions of white-hot anger will take us to an even worse place.

They've shut down Times Square, or portions of it, several times over the last few years for suspicious vehicles. One was when there was a parked van with blacked out windows parked for 3 days. I park there for 10 minutes and get told to move it, but this one sat there for three days. Sheesh. One reason they ignored it was because it had plates or a sign or something that indicated it was a van belonging to a police organization. It didn't. Good practice run, tho.

I had on the news that the guy was a U.S. citizen of Pakastani descent. It sounds to me like some kind of Al-Queda thing gone wrong. When they blow IEDs over in the Mid East they do it in a similar way
Jihad shahzam lost a house to foreclosure, so where's the outrage? TSA needs to add this to their check list---barney, dodd and the collaspe of the housing market is the cause.. oh "scripted" msm must have not connected the dots.. I'm sure-soon, they will.. Like where was BUSH for two weeks in Alabama thing- on and on
