One problem is strongly held opinion is often wrongly asserted as fact, and is believed to be facts. Another is that sweetened up propaganda is often taken to be factual.
I agree, the mormon religion fits that to a tee, especially when you compare the book of mormon to the Bible.
Yes, it is true that Mormonism, comprising the 4th largest religion in America, is a religious cult. They are a bad, evil cult because they do it a little too differently for mainstream Christians.
I never said that they were bad or evil; misguided in my opinion about the Bible and what it is and what it say's? Yes. I would never condemn someone of their beliefs be it mormon, atheist, catholic or whatever, but don't try and tell me the Bible say's that Jesus was human like you and I that climbed the proverbial ladder to become a God. The Bible simply does not say that.
It's not like the eleven different flavors of Baptist cults because at least those Baptists are in the ballpark playing the same game .
The key part to that statement is the fact that they are playing the same game. They haven't introduced special revelations, extra scripture, made unverifiable claims, said God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit is something totally different than what the Bible say's it is. If you don't believe in the Bible then you are correct in your statemen and if you choose to follow mormonism or scientology for the matter, more power to ya.
But those evil Mormons, "How DARE they take MY Bible and interpret it wrong! How DARE they believe in something IN ADDITION to the Bible! Where's my snake?"
You know how you always accuse me of being confrontational for the sake of being confrontational? Take a look in the mirror.
The only way you can say things like that above is if you don't believe in Jesus and the Bible, which is all well and good. But if you do not know what the Bible says and more importantly believe it as the infallible word of God, with all due respect, there really isn't any reason for you to be commenting on the subject at hand.
