Knoxville?

Is there a fair amount of freight going to or from Knoxville? I realize "fair amount" is different for everyone. So I guess what I'm asking is if you had a run to Knoxville, would you stay there & wait for something or would you relocate to somewhere else?

I'm asking because I'm considering moving from Michigan. Along the lines of the above Q is some companies up here, while they go to all the lower 48, a lot of their freight is in Michigan, Ohio, & Indiana. Are there companies that have primary freight zones of maybe NC, SC, Tenn, & Ga?

We are leased to FedEx and to much work out of the Atlanta area. Who are you leased with? Team? Solo? What kind of truck?

Knoxville Iowa, or Knoxville Tn..?? And just because we live in certain areas that may or may not be good freight areas, I find not to be an issue when making it in this business....freight runs from all over the place...in this business you are away from home more then you are there, so it doesn't matter to me if toledo is a good freight area or not...and more often then not, I DH to the Chicago area after being out of service at home.....

Knoxville is a good area every time I've been there. Most of my loads have come from east of the city... around the Greeneville area. Ppl tend to shy away from NE Tennessee, like they do Nebraska. I guess it's easier to dh than take a chance.

there are times one could die in E. Tn....

I find it is very auto related territory....Morristown, Greenville...when the auto industry slumps so goes Knoxville more times then not... hot and cold

Solo driver in a van. I'm gonna have to move anyway as my g/f will be moving in w/ me next year & my house is way to small for 3 more people, her & 2 kids.

In addition to that, dispatch has told me that there's not a lot of freight originating near Flint. Ironic that Dennis heads to Chicago after being in Toledo, cuz Toledo is one of the 3 cities they suggest I move to. Ft Wayne & Indy were the 2 others.

I just figured if I'm gonna move, at least look into the possibility of something further south. I'm not saying I never wanna see snow again. Nothing like that. But I'd basically like the days where I'm in it for pretty much 3-4 months straight every year to be over.

Ft Wayne!?!? I won't say i have done great there...there was a thread a while ago about how freight was doin from there...I am sure that it all depends on the Carrier you are with and where their customers are located.....but again, and maybe its just me, but i never concerned myself how freight was in my home town when i decided to go into this business...I am not home as much as i am on the road.....

Don't know about a van but Knoxville TN is a good freight area for straight trucks. Have dead-headed to there but never out.

I live in the Knoxville area. I do well getting out. I am a White Glove truck and get both types of loads (Surface, W/G. Temp, and TVAL.)

There are occasions that I will turn down a few cheap loads prior to getting a good load.

Be Safe..
