It is good that Dennis points out all this extreme stuff.....helping keep the pressure on Barry and the gang...

I feel Barry is losing his power....his tantrums point that out...

He just lost Kennedy...Reid is behind in his home state..he'll have to come back to a neutral position if he wants to win...
Barrys media love affair is cooling off....

These town hall meetings will back a few more Senators off as well....
Keep the pressure on...phone/e-mail your Rep and or Senator..:)

OVM,
I've been on the phone most of the day today and talking to a good friend, she is a poli-sci grad. She mentioned that these town halls don't really mean anything because the people won't remember what happen when it comes time to vote. The hard core democrat senator or congressman will ignore the fact that the voters are screaming and still vote the way they want to vote, seeing that some of them already are in the middle of their election cycle.

That is the key right there...they have a few yrs left, and don't really care one way or the other..and yes, by the time the elections roll around, the people will have moved on to American Idol......That is just one more reason for the populace to stop paying taxes.....

No one is dismissing it at all...but history sayes the American people back down and move on...i for one hope that is wrong this time as things seem to be a BIT, different with more people waking up...but time does mode well for keeping them active...i belong to 4 different groups that pressure politicians on an ongoing basis...the 2A groups are the most active and get the most results...one of the others is relatively new, just 4 months...they are working on educating people on the Constitution and Federalist papers so that they can understand what the government is doing to them...they are planning for the trip to DC sept 12th for the Tea party...the other group is the local Libertarian Party. I haven't "joined" them yet, but have been to 3 meetings...while i am not as active in the last 2 as i am with the 2A groups, i do see them working to try and make a difference....

Now that being said, until this healthcare issue hit the fan, most of american was asleep at the wheel, just moving through their day...

barry won 52% of the vote..his approval on both is popularity and healthcare are now at about 43%, that desn't mode well for him...so yea some of America is waking up, the key is keeping them awake and active......

I don't know what being a political science grad has to do with it but I do know you don't have to be one to figure out that when one party is in power and they don't do what the peole want, they get voted out. That's what they call "bonehead political science"

It has to do with an educated observation, she seems to think the same thing I am thinking that the town halls are a place to vent and it doesn't matter who is in power there isn't that much of a change in regions where change is needed - like here in the great lakes states and in the north east corridor.

The people get voted out when there is something that the 'people' don't like is just a fallacy. This is mainly due to the fact that money matters in an election. Dingel is still there and he was the one person who said after the gas hit $4 a gallon that he wanted to see the gas tax raised. Most of the people in his district seem to be dependent on the auto industry, and it seems they were pretty p*ssed off but he got re-elected. Why would that be if it was "bonehead political science"?

I too was a political science major. I have read your posts in the past about how you feel about what you refer to as "academia" and how far to the left it is. You're right, it is. That is why I am curious about why you are interested in your friend's opinon.

Right again. The central committees of both parties collude to decide which candidates they are going to back and which ones they are not. Believe me, this is how the system works.

What would you rather have him raise? There is no manufacturing to speak of. The state has a budget. Money makes the world go around. The need to find less expensive manufacturing drove it off shore or to Mexico. You can either tax business or tax the people. You tell me. It ain't rocket science.

Are you saying voters are like O/O's that complain about low rates and surcharges but keep using the same shippers , carriers , and brokers ?

Normally I would agree with Greg; and Wilkow when he said the American voter's attention span is like a ferret on a double cappuccino. But I think that when a lot of Americans are forced to get off their butts and go places, and do things, because of the clowns in office, they'll remember. They'll remember the town hall meetings and tea parties. And they'll have some sway over their friends and family who weren't in the trenches.

Unfortunately, the Republican party is in such disarray, I don't see them pulling a 1994 for that reason. They may take back Congress in 2010 - but it will be more of the same... pork and lobbyists.

One good thing about this is that the libertarian and conservative sects of the party will grow stronger... altho, I don't expect by much.
