Half black and half Thai equals black too. And no matter how hard Tiger tried to correct them, the media had to put emphasis on the black half. Colin Powell's roots are from the Caribbean; so the term African American is just a feel good term for black. Doesn't matter where your roots are. Same as conservatives being labeled as white evangelical Christians. Sorry... I'm only one of the three.

Labels are important to liberals. It tells them everyone's pecking order... under the elite, that is.

That's what I like about conservatism. Your pecking order is based on YOUR success; not what your race, gender, handicap, or sexual orientation is.

For the record, to say that I am a staunch liberal is like saying Rachel Maddow is out looking for a big stiff one. I would go into a little more detail but you see, I am out practicing the principles of free enterprise, knocking on doors, selling my wares, (for a profit I might add) depending 100% on my own wits and ambitions, having doors slammed in my face repeatedly. Did I mention spending my own resources to finance my endeavor? As a 100% commission salesman I am 100% dependent on my efforts to earn a living. My healthcare comes straight out of my pocket in the form of co-pays and the premiums I pay for my insurance. There are no excuses or bailouts or subsidies in the life of this independent businessman. While some of you here babble about how you perceive what a free market should be, I am out making it happen. I don't have a dispatcher or a carrier to lean on . It's just me, my samples, my pen and a lot of determination.
I am an entrepreneur in the purest form. If that is what a staunch liberal is then I am guilty as charged.... Oh yeah, And I knew every answer on that rediculous video!

The thing is, this poll does in fact meet the criteria for a push poll, not so much in the questions themselves, but the mere fact that only Obama voters were questioned. .

I heard on the radio yesterday that Ziegler actually did request that Zogby conduct a similar poll on the McCain voters. Zogby refused, as noted in an article from the Wall Street Journal Online written about this same poll:

"On Thursday, Politico reported that Ziegler contacted Zogby this week to repeat the poll with McCain supporters but was rebuffed by the polling firm. John Zogby said he would want to formulate the questions and have either an objective sponsor or a pair of sponsors, one from the left and one from the right. Ziegler responded, “This didn’t fall through any ‘cracks,’ they just got scared. … there was nothing wrong with the original poll.” After publication of this post, Ziegler wrote a comment objecting to the headline."

Zogby admits that the poll had some flaws, but the point Ziegler made is still the same: Obama voters get their information from the biased mainstream media, while the McCain voters get their info from other sources. Obama voters bought into the "hope and change" bs while McCain voters were more pragmatic.

I think the letter you posted in a separate thread from the 41-year old space queen says a lot about Obama voters - how many McCain voters do you think would write a letter like that?

That's the real issue, though, and to state that is pure conjecture, unless a poll is taken to find out, which Ziegler won't do (or rather, won't pay to do). There have been many studies that show, without a doubt, that most people in the US get their news from the mainstream media, Republicans and Democrats alike. Things like the Arbitron and Neilsen ratings depend heavily on knowing where people get their information, and these and many other research institutions show time and time again where people get their information. The only question, in this case, is whether or not a significant number of McCain voters deviate from the norm to make a difference, and truly do get their information from other sources, or is there something else at work with the conservative mind of the McCain voter that is absent in the mind of the Obama voter (you know, like critical thinking and stuff).

I'll accept the benefit of the doubt regarding that comment with thanks. Isn't it interesting, the context of our conversations about Bill Clinton and the direction our minds wander when his name is mentioned. His legacy will be remembered as the one who was responsible for the nation's parents having to explain the meaning of oral sex to their third graders. How comforting it is to know he'll be running the State Dept. by proxy. Right now I'm sitting here in front of the computer anticipating Obama to announce his appointment of Jocilyn Elders as his Surgeon General. Just some random thoughts after having a couple doses of Gosling's Black Seal elixir.
