Hillary Does Mexico

Yeah, if we accept their numbers, then 29% disapprove, which is greater than 1 in 4.

Obama was smart to give her a high profile appointment in his cabinet. She will be required to be a good team player and sing Obama's praises. One would think this appointment would cool her ambitions for 2012. Time will tell if a chasm develops between the Clinton machine and Obama. Yet, if Obama stumbles badly, Hillary is poised to run again.

I don't watch or listen to Obama, but I do read an enormous amount about him.. His omnipresence is impossible to escape. By what I see in print, his popularity is sky high. What say we just dispense with the 2012 presidential election, right now, and give it to Obama by acclamation?

You know, the Hillary appointment, and her acceptance of it, may turn out to be one of the more interesting things to keep an eye on for the next several years. I was surprised that she took the job, quite frankly. For that matter, I'd have bet good money that Obama would have picked Luger for that position, since Obama and Lugar are good friends, and since Lugar is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and is well respected around the world. Apparently Lugar wanted to stay right where he was (couple of weeks ago he voted for the 12,000th time, putting him like 13th all-time, and he has more than a 98% attendance record in Congress, that's impressive).

But Hillary, she can't do her own agenda as Obama's Secretary of State, and it's well known they differ on several foriegn policy issues. So a chasm might develop, but if Obama stumbles into his own chasm, she's very likey to get dragged down with him. The only way she son't go down with the ship is if Obama's chasm is one of a financial bailout and unemployment nature. If he doesn't stumble, then he's a near-lock for a repeat in 2012, leaving her to look at 2016, which doesn't seem likely in any event, as I can't see Hillary running for president at the age of 69 after spending the previous 8 years doing Obama's bidding.

If she does want to run again in 2016, then she'll leave her current post after 4 years rather than risk something happening in those last 4 years that would take her down. If she stays more than 4 years, it'll be because she plans on not running again, and will stay put as long as she can. But a lot can happen over the next 4 and 8 years. Gonna be interesting to see it all unfold. Maybe Chelsea will toss her hat into the ring. <snort>

You know full well Hillary and Bill are grooming Chelsea to take the mantle. I fear we are creating political dynasties in America. Joe Biden intends for his son to inherit his old Senate seat in Delaware. There are several examples of seats in Congress and governorships being passed from one generation to the next within certain families. If a dynastic family can manage to secure the primary election in May, they most likely win in November.

As for Chelsea, or George W. Bush for that matter, some people are born on third base and think they hit a triple.

" some people are born on third base and think they hit a triple."

I love that.
I'm gonna steal that (which should come as no shock to many here hehe)

I just don't understand it, other than follow the money of course, how does U.S. drug use cause crime in Mexico? No one "FORCES" anyone into becoming a drug supplier. They do it of thier own free will. They do it for the money and the power that they wield. They do it in total disreguard of the damage that they do. Blaming U.S. drug users for the murders etc in Mexico is like blaming the U.S. for the North Koreans preparing to launch a ICBM, under the guise of putting a "peaceful" sattilite, into orbit. After all, if the U.S. did not have weather sattilites they would not be "FORCED" into this. Any bets on just how much help they are getting from Russia and China on this? The U.S. reaction? Hillary spouts a whimp warning and Barry continues to gut our military. Still wonder why Russia is expanding world wide again? Next step, Russian bases in Mexico. Layoutshooter

Sorry Turtle, she is not doing that well of a job to me.... there is a lot more to this than making a few speeches here or there.

She has been in that position for how long?

A few months or something like that, and she still is riding her fame as a high profile celebrity, where even Oprah would have been seen as doing well. The proof with be how she handles the crisis, any crisis and her rhetoric that she uses, she can't treat these things like she is in the senate, that is where she was most effective with speeches that were not diplomatic in anyway.

She is known as someone who can't work in the background, never could since she was 'first lady' (remember her healthcare debacle?) and while it is true that others with little diplomatic back ground have been successful, we really haven't had a SoS who has been arrogant like she has. I have a feeling that there will be a divide between the administraion and Hillary sometime during the next coupel years, and there has already been a problem with Obamam sayinf one thing and she slipping and saying another.

I see a real serious problem with the administration, they want to bring to justice the people who do bad things instead of tracking them down and killing them. This is an extension of the clinton administration and she with obama will screw us again in the near future.

In a war you kill the enemy. If captured you put them in a POW camp till hostiliies end (GITMO) If that enemy is not in uniform there is no need to do anything else but shoot him. War sucks, it is cruel and horrible. Our enemy today has no reguard for human life. They have been working on ways to destroy us since before Carter took over. Carter did all he could to insure that they secured a power base and Clinton re-enforced that base. Obama will most likely encourge them to bigger and more horrible things. He, as Carter and Clinton, 'taint got a clue to what goes on in the REAL world. Most liberal college only geeks don't. It takes REAL LIFE experience to deal with real life problems. Layoutshooter

But here is the other problem, we have too many SoSs running aruond and they are presenting us as too many different things to the world.

We have Pelosi, and other congressmen who have acted as diplomats and now we have Hillary.

Turtle seems to think "But Hillary, she can't do her own agenda as Obama's Secretary of State, and it's well known they differ on several foriegn policy issues." but I disagree with that knowing her track record of not keeping quiet.

I see her doing what she wants in the background, adding one thing here and there, shuffling the master's bidding to the back burner in some cases and possibly setting him up for failure at our expense. This further aggravates the situation we already have with our enemies and allies by showing us as a weak divided administration and opens the door for more carnage.

Even the Pakistan invasion issue is touchy and has not been addressed properly. Some in the pakistan government and the militant groups are using the build up in Afghanastan as a prelude to us invading but no one has really address this issue, instead we are concern with Israel and their defending themselves.

Ever seen a chicken with it's head cut off? That is EXACTLY what this bunch we have now looks like. Running around in every direction, trying to slove ever problem at once without offending anyone for any reason. Don't work that way. They lack backround, experience and focus. That is a very bad combitnation of lacks. Layoutshooter

Funny yes, but in a very SAD and dangerous way. It is very sad to see just how far the media has degraded over the last several years. :( It has become almost impossible to find good, honest, balanced reporting on issues. I sure am tired of the media gushing over Obama, almost adoring him. That is NOT thier job. That is for People magazine or the Globe. I would expect more of a journalist. What a shame that there are so few left and little or no outlets for thier work. Layoutshooter
