Here is a easy to answer Question

I was having a conversation with one of my Son-in-laws the other day. I got around to the U.S. debt. and that it will eventually bury us. My Son in law asked me what would happen if we just reneged on the debt, I was stumped for an answer.

Do you think China would take that sitting down?

Well, no. But don't they squat?

LOL!!! I don't know. If countries start to default, even small economy countries like Greece, the entire world's economy could fall apart. As I stated before, these kinds of events start world wars. Not a pretty picture setting up right now.

I understand that but, If we told China as an example "sorry" I doubt that they would actually start a 'shooting' war.

Just as many wars in the past have started, they will not be started by the "country" but by chaos in the streets. When people start to starve. Just look at the riots in Greece. Italy and Spain are in almost as bad a shape not to mention England and Ireland. Socialism has used up the money supply, there just is no more to borrow or lend. What if California goes? That state alone has a bigger economy than Greece or many other countries around the globe.

Well, it would be the last time any foreign government loaned us money to float our debt, that's for sure. Then we'd have to live within our means, and I doubt we have that within us at this point. We have about 50% of the populace who are tax consumers in one form or another, and politicians who want their votes and are willing to buy them, politicians who really, I don't think, even comprehend that we're out of money. They just think they vote to spend some money and it doesn't have to truly exist somewhere first.

Remember Carol Moseley-Braun? She gave a speech in which she equated not having things you couldn't pay for or not spending money you didn't have with communism. The room erupted in laughter. She either thought people were laughing with her or tried to play it off that way, and began kind of a nervous laugh, herself. But it showed that any economic sense was completely alien to her. She was as ridiculous as that senator who, a few weeks ago, suggested that an island might capsize if too many people were on it.

Everybody's playing a game of let's-pretend right now. Everybody, including the benefactors who foolishly purchase our debt every Monday morning (or is it Tuesday that it's auctioned?) know that our debt can never be paid back, and yet we're planning on spending more money we don't have. We may not have to intentionally default on our debt; one of these weeks, Washington's going to try to auction off more debt, and other nations are going to go, "Uh, no thanks; we're all set." And that's when the music stops and people are going to be left without a seat.

The trick is finding some way before then to end up like those rich ladies on the Waltons with "The Recipe," instead of everybody else in town.

Oh, one step before furren countries stop buying our debt might be that they demand land--American land--as collateral. If you see that happen, you better find a safe haven, real quick-like. Maybe they'd demand Guam or Puerto Rico first, but next time, they want Hawaii or Alaska as collateral. Yikes, this is getting ugly.

...but you think they'll ever admit it? Leftists will always find a way to shift the blame.

This could really be an important shift in world history. What if people figure out that everybody trying to live at the expense of everybody else is what did this? Do you think socialism would finally be discredited? Nah, come to think of it, they'll still find a way to blame it on Reagan.

An economist was asked when he thought America might finally be free again. "When checks from Washington no longer buy anything," was his answer. He thought it was decades away, but maybe recent events have moved things up.

No, they never admit anything. You have to go back much further than Reagan to find out when this mess started. Reagan did little to stop it, only slowed the progress a little. He was a bit of a socialist himself. All this bunch has done was speed up the process.

It gets tiring to read and reread the Wiemar Republic inflation and trying to compare it to what will happen here.

We will have hyper inflation, but it won't be because we were a defeated country that had outside countries demand payment or control our industrial base. What we can learn from Germany is how they got out of it, how they got out of the depression and how they controlled their economy under fascism - all important.

What can happen is China collapses from the EU, the EU has years ahead of us on spending and false support of their currency. If the EU falls apart China may take a stop loss on their investment and turn to the US as an investment vehicle. It isn't as bad as it sounds but if we can get a grip on spending within the next few years, then we will be ahead of the game with the EU.

Greg, I was not implying that we will go the exact way of Pre-WWII Germany or for the same reasons. I was just pointing out just how bad inflation can get and what it could lead too.

Food riots, total lawlessness etc. Looking at that inflation, with the pics, is scary. We do need to wake up before it is too late.

I don't think we will get to riots and lawlessness. Our system and country isn't like Germany or Europe in the early 20th century.

What will happen is law will return to the people, after a long time being repressed by our government.

It may never come to that, instead we may see a shift again from left to right, a cleaning of our congress and so on with this election.

Don't take my criticism wrong. I read the same stuff all over the place. Beck was great for pounding into the ground without actually understanding what triggered it, tiring.

Not to worry Greg, I understand what you are saying. I hope you are right, but I don't think so. Time will tell. I am very concerned about civil war. Caused either by an Obama win or loss in 2012. If this kind of inflation occurs, regardless of the cause, there is the potential for it to get nasty.

You can bet your boots that right now, in Russia, China and other countries, friend and foe alike, analysts in my former profession are monitoring our situation VERY closely. We watched the Soviet economy when I was in. Economics and failing economies are weapons if used right.

No, we are not in the same position that Germany was prior to WWII. The only comparision is what that kind of inflation can do to a nation.

I heard something that was rather interesting about the up and coming presidential election - it isn't as important. Chances are unless people get a grip on reality, he will be reelected. Now is the time for the opposition to build its candidate but nothing can be found that this will ever happen because of a lack of unity. The tea party which may gain strength in the up and coming primaries might pull the repubs back into a realistic position to actually boot some members out, support stronger candidates instead of incumbents and actually run a campaign on all levels with some force that is needed to win.

Everyone has a stake in our success. But with that said, the problems with outside meddling will cause us great problems - from the UN to the EU, they want to punish us but also have us pay.

If and it is a big long distance if, we have any civil strife, we won't have the blood shed because of internal groups fighting among themselves but because we will have to fight external groups first, think Spanish civil war.

Hmmm...maybe Glenn Beck should be listened to a little harder. He's been talking about this for a long time now.

Beck's too much of a neocon and GOP tool for me. If he takes his head out and stops defaming Ron Paul, maybe he'll be worth listening to again.
