As of 300 pm this afternoon i was let go by CTX based out of Detroit Mi because of my post that i did yesterday. I would first like to say my experience with CTX was a good one with their recruiting department and their dispatch only, i have no regrets for posting my recent threads because i beleive that all people looking for work in this biz should know what to look out for, freedom of speech is what both Canada and USA practise, well at least till today, in my case. i was told by safety supervisor that i was being let go because of my posts here at expeditors online . He also stated that i should be careful on my next post because of future work references, got 1 one for you Steve DEFEMATION!
Anyways i would just like to thank all of your numerous ims and replies, this is a great site and i will go out of my way to tell all my Canadian expeditors to start visiting this site, thx!
P.S. JUST SIGNED ON WITH NEW COMPANY, and yes they seen the posts!!!

sorry to hear that and glad to hear you got a new place to hang your hat, just a note I was also wronged by a company a very short time ago and listed the persons name and got shut down and recieved a call from expediters on line telling me not to use names do to there rules and I agreed but again your decision, I also believe that (and I have not read your other posts) that if a company is in the wrong and they get upset about what others are writing then its true and they dont want people to know what they are doing, so if everything you have said is based on fact I for one take my hat off to you, but on the other hand if what you have wrote is based on your feelings be careful. I wish you the best

If companies had nothing to hide they would not care. Obviously they know what they did was wrong and now everyone else knows it also. Thats what happens when a company has little to no ethics.

Glad to see you got a new job and glad your new company is ok with what you did. Sounds like they have nothing to hide so ethics are not a problem for them.

Well, first of all, Freedom of Speech does not mean freedom from any and all consequences whatsoever for that speech (something most liberals cannot seem to fathom. see; Chicks, Dixie. But I digress). It only means freedom from government reprisals. It does not mean freedom from reprisals from the private sector, like your company or your carrier (Don Imus comes to mind). A baseball manager has the freedom of speech to criticize the umpires, and the government is prohibited from taking action against him for that speech, just the same, MLB will hammer him with a fine for his comments.

Second, threatening you with bad references if you keep on posting here isn't defamation, because you have not yet been defamed. It is, however, blackmail (not to mention scummy, childish and chicken), and if you happened to have recorded the conversation, you would do well to hand the tape over to a good attorney. Very well, in fact.

Third, there is nothing wrong with mentioning names, as long as what you say about them is true, and you can back it up.

I would agree with turtle in part of there is nothing wrong with naming names drivers should no who is at fault and what part that person had in this matter, but according to expediter online and the call I got after they closed my site and would not allow me to re-enter or post any comments until I agreed to not name anyone personally in this forum because I named names in my post and I could prove everything I said and offered to do so, as my posting was closed I would dis-agree. but sometimes in order to stand up for what you believe is right and to get the word out you put yourself at risk, and sometimes thats more important than what others may think or what you may lose, you were fired but now have a new company everything happens for a reason, so nothing is lost

Well, quite honestly Rangell, you named names with regard to a personal dispute you had with the carrier. You say you can prove everything, but that can only happen when a third party can hear both sides of the case and make a judgment, and these forums are not the place for such things. On the other hand, if you were to post something like, "I just got a message from [insert name here] via the QC that CTX has just reduced the rates for cargo vans from $0.85 to $0.70," no one would have had a problem with that (except maybe the kiddies at CTX). But by and large, the name is irrelevant, and the job title is the more important thing.

I'm sorry that you every signed on with that company. Back in 1994 when I was checking into this business I met with a so called recruiter from CTX. He ask me to meet him at the Burger King on Arlington Road in Akron. Never signed on with them for that reason and thought there company wasn't very strong. I bought my 1st truck and signed on with Roberts Express which is now FedEx Custom Critical. My top 5 companys in this business is,

Fedex C.C.

Landstar

Panther

Tri-State

Express One

Express One because they really impressed me at the Expo in 2006 by hosting a breakfast for everone.

EO members are, arguably in the top tier of expediters, in the sense that most are aware of how the business works, smart enough to be computer savvy (at least insofar as to be able to use it for these forums), and smart enough to be on what is easily the premier Web site for expediting (just sucking up to Lawrence a little bit). EO members are the kind of people that any carrier would like to have driving for them.

Express-1 recognizes all this. They really impressed me, as well.

They sucked us in for what amounted to a 'cream-of-the-crop' recruiting session in the guise of a free breakfast.

That was better than my "recruiter" that had a few of us meet him at his house. It was a literal dump. We were handed the CTX "test" then he read off the answer sheet so we could fill in the right answers.

Too funny. Maybe that's why they switched to meeting at Burger King.

As with several of the other posts, I am mindful that we are hearing only one side of the conversation. I see no personal attacks, only a statement as Dean07 interpreted the conversation.
That in of itself is not a violation of the code of conduct.
Lastly, the facts remain that they cut their existing drivers current rate down to .70 per mile for cargo vans. That is a fact based on their current information.
That I find rather disturbing.
The follow up concern would be when I see for 20 to 28 straights, "73% of billed gross revenue plus fuel". What does that mean? Do they pay ALL the fuel as advertised? 73 % of what number? If the reduction is by percentage similar to the van rate cut, you will have some migrating drivers or trucks for sale. If driving a straight truck, I think I would demand a copy of every customer bill.

Well for the record - I have edited out the persons name mentioned in the original post. Simply put - don't post personal names in a dispute. There are always two sides to EVERY issue. I will remove it and you may lose access to your account in the future.

Please read our Code of Conduct # 9
