Hypocrisy is the bread and butter of conservatives in general, but the Religious Right Republicans in particular, and nothing ****es them off more than being called on it. That's hilarious.

...
Lest I leave someone out, it's also hilarious when liberals display hypocrisy and then get mad when they're called on it, because they don't just get mad, they just lose it, often in typical child-like temper tantrum fashion (which is to be expected considering the similarities between the mindset of children and the mindset of liberals). :D
Politicians are all the same. It doesn't matter which side of the coin they are on.

I'd agree with "most politicians", but not all There are a few, [Elizabeth Warren, whatshisname from Vermont, lol] who appear to wish to represent the interests of the citizens, even when it puts them on some corporate hit lists [I mean *hit lists, not death warrants]. The rest are beholden to their corporate sponsors, same as the mainstream media.

Yup....follow the $$ ..it will give you the answers to anything..

Well giving up your Senators seat to be President. ..is a bit more respectable than just flat out giving up on your state to write books and go on a speaking tour...but maybe I am wrong?
If you put it that way, yes. But that isn't describing the whole situation with Palin. All the frivolous lawsuits she had to defend against, which took a lot of money, time, and resources had a lot to do with it too. BTW, although running for President is considered more respectable, there is nothing wrong with going back into the private sector and make a difference there instead. And if you have a problem with the money she is making on her book deals and speaking engagements, cheer up. It will pale in comparison to the pot of gold that awaits Obama once he leaves office. (He even penned a book deal before he took office for when he leaves office. See link below.)One only has to look at the recent history of previous Presidents to see the cash cow they enjoy. I always get a chuckle when some political operative on tv says that people don't make a lot of money in politics. It's a line of bs.

Sadly, it really and truly is all politicians, not merely most of them. They all appear to wish to represent the interests of the citizens, because that's part of their job description. A politician is a per who acts, usually in a manipulative and sometimes in a devious way, typically to gain advancement within an organization and/or to gain and retain power, to influence public policy and decision making. The end game for a politician is to have the power to run the show and make the decisions. It doesn't matter what they appear to want or represent, the job itself is exactly the same regardless of the left-right political philosophy.

Since H.L. Mencken has been in the news lately, here's one that's apropos:
"Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know, has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby."

"Government is a broker in pillage, and every election is sort of an advance auction sale of stolen goods. The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule."

He defined the socialist (what today would be categorized as a left wing liberal democrat) as “a man suffering from an overwhelming conviction to believe what is not true, and moreover suffering from the same overwhelming conviction to believe in promises made for things that can not happen.”

Further to illustrate the dangers of thinking that there are politicians that aren't really politicians and are different from other politicians, here's a quote from another politician, some Russian guy by the name of Nikita Khrushchev:

"Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build bridges even when there are no rivers. The worst of the worst will build the bridges."

...

"The only thing dumber than a Republican or a Democrat is, when these pricks work together."
